everything wrong with letting people state their opinion without being accountable for it. and on eb, that accountability sorta seems to equate to "being mocked and made the butt of jokes". Or just butt jokes.

and gaming forums DO get shittier over time as they get bigger when people can't cull the cranks, fanboys, irrational haters, and other miscreants over their posts. I just think on EB that shouldn't be done as much by moderators (where fear of losing posting access is the key motivator) as it is by everyone posting calling the offending poster out on their bullshit (where fear of loss of respect is the key motivator). The latter is far more preferable IMO.

As for the verb cleanse, well, EB can't be EB without going a bit over the top. I'm also one of the most intolerant people on the board in all likelihood, which makes dropping something like that all the easier.
