Title: I keep getting calls from some weird old couple

For the past month or so I've been getting phone calls on my cell phone from some number I didn't recognize, but I never answered it since I don't take calls from numbers I don't know. I payed it no mind.

About a week ago whoever was calling left a message. It was some confused sounding elderly lady saying she was returning my call and wondering what I needed. I disregarded this as well, thinking it is just some dotty old woman going senile not knowing how to use the phone.

Today I got another message from her husband(?) who was very angry, and said that someone from my number has been placing multiple calls to there house and hanging up, and if it continued he would view it as harrassment and blah blah blah.

I'm not worried about this, but it is getting to be somewhat of a nuisance. My guess is that they're just getting prank called from some teenager in their area who knows how to make caller ID incorrectly identify them as my number. My question to you evilbore, is do you know if this is possible? Or do you maybe have some other idea why they would think I'm calling them when I am doing no such thing?

No, it's a cell phone and stays in my pocket pretty much at all times. I thought maybe my phone dialed the number by accident but their number definitely isn't in the calls made list .

I have no idea what recourse you have here, but I'm watching this thread because I'm interested. I'm also kind of wondering wtf is wrong with the old guy. I wouldn't think it would even be possible.

I had an old lady call me once, not on my cell but on my own landline, thinking I was some relative of hers. I called her back to set her straight because her message sounded kind of urgent and I figured if she really needed to get ahold of said relative, I'd better let her know she's looking in the wrong direction lol. She was confused, but nice about it.

once i found some message on my cellphone from a strange guy that said "hey laura!! (my name's lauren) so we just arrived here at the minneapolis airport and we're eagerly waiting for you to pick us up. guess you probably got stuck in traffic or something, just wanted to let you know that we made it safely and are waiting by the baggage claim area."

i only noticed the message like 6 hours after the person called so i felt kinda bad for a while. i hope they eventually got picked up by this "laura" character.

Haha oh man. I hope they didn't sit there forever.

I'd suggest calling them back and setting them straight.  Even though you don't know them, they'll think you're just jerking them around more.

I once got called 5 times by some old lady.  We eventually figured out that she wasn't putting the area code in.
