Title: What Blu-Rays should I buy for my father for Christmas?

Recently got a blu ray player and I want to pop his hd cherry.

The Dark Knight is most definitely going to get thrown in the pile, but what else?

Also, what's the average price of blu rays movies?

The Pixar stuff has fantastic picture quality if he's into that.  The Kubrick films are also a great showcase, especially 2001.  I second the God Father collection as well.  Fantastic transfer and restoration.

I don't get why they did a fancy transfer for Baraka but the fucking Qatsi films get squat.  Even that crappy third Qatsi movie is better than Baraka.

My father hates those movies. We make fun of my mom because those cheesy black comedies are the only movies she watches.

It's supposed to put Planet Earth to shame in terms of stunning HD imagery. 

I have Baraka, and it does. Filmed on 70mm film so the detail is just :o

Band of Brothers is also awesome of course.
