I ran out of alcohol a full day earlier than I anticipated.  I have a problem.

I don't own a car, the liquor store is a kilometer away, and it's been around minus 30 for the past three weeks. Thus I've been extremely sober.  :gloomy

I don't even get drunk anymore.  I do it basically to sleep.

As you probably know, that's only somewhat effective.

Yeah, I know.  It's not "good" sleep and oftentimes I'll wake up after two or three hours with a headache and not be able to fall back asleep, but the alternatives aren't so hot.  I have extreme difficulty falling asleep under normal conditions, to the degree that there are entire nights where I cannot fall asleep.  Sleeping pills are in some ways less effective than alcohol, and I normally feel terrible, terrible in the morning after using them.

Yeah, sleeping medication is pointless. When I took the pills, I managed to get some sleep but during the day I was hungover and drowsy. I would have been better off without any sleep. Drinking to fall asleep is a dead end after several months.

My combination of chamomile tea, nytol, melatonin, valerian, and citalopram (yes I've finally got some meds) seems to be rather effective. Though, I have had next to no sleep the nights before exams.

It's kind of a transitional season--cleaning up the aftermath of five and setting up seven.  It's still pretty good but I think it's the weakest season.

It's rough.  I'm a night person through and through.  I think ultimately my sleeping problem is that I'm just not supposed to be sleeping at night.  I wish I didn't have to.  It's kinda why I love the winter here so much.  It gets so dark so early.

Season 5 and 6 I think were supposed to be bundled together as one season or at least intended to.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
My only beef is how Hiatt got canned as soon as he did.  Although it sounded more like him quitting than getting fired but still, it was very premature to can someone after the first mistake, especially one as minor as it turned out.

It was a great season overall.

:lol

Same thing happened to me when I first started using it. It usually goes away after a couple of months, but if it's currently too bothersome I find that taking it in the evening (right before you sleep) really helps.

I'm on 30 mg. What's your dose?

I think I'm in the same boat as far as sleep schedule is concerned. I think a 3-11 work shift is my ideal. Getting up at six in the morning feels wholly unnatural. So I take unisoms most work nights, then drink energy drinks in the day.

It's kind of awful. The controlled up/down is like a PG13 Requiem.

On topic, I drank all day Saturday for a friends graduation, and was totally useless all day yesterday. Today feels like a damn Sunday, but I have a ton of work to do because of the short week. I think I'm finally getting too old for binge drinking.  :'(
