really? the lyrics in Death Magnetic were the most embarrassing part of what was otherwise a really good album.

Metallica albums have that quality to them. After the initial shock and displeasure of any new offering not sounding like any of the old stuff and therefore automatically being shit, the facts remains that James is a hell of a lyricist and the four of them have crazy chops.

i wouldn't say he's much of a lyricist, but they know how to grind riffs like motherfuckers

The comeback Megadeth album that came out a year earlier is leagues better.  Megadeth :bow2

the album has more than a few rockin tracks. in fact the only song that's unbearably bad is Unforgiven III

not much of a fan of the Day That Never Comes either; at first I liked parts of it, now I don't want to hear any of it

Unforgiven III has one of the best solos on the album though.

Love is a four letter word.

Sadly that is like a vast improvement over St. Anger.

That is a little sad, isn't it?

Well, for what it's worth, without St. Anger, there'd be no Some Kind of Monster, and I'm not sure I'd like to live in a world where that flick didn't turn out the way it did.

I still really need to see that. I've heard nothing but hilarious things.

Dave Mustaine crying is all that needs to be said.
