it looks like a ps2 game and the gameplay is not good. at all.
none of your moves look fluid and the hit detection is shit.
download the psn demo and witness the horror for yourself.
-
How does it compare to mercenaries 2?
-
its not like mercenaries, its LOTR Battlefront
-
That just sounds wrong. Does Pandemic have multiple dev teams or something?
-
I saw a video of this a couple of weeks ago and it looked terrible. not surprised it plays like a turd.

They'd have to have at least 2 between this and Mercs 2.

There's Pandemic Australia and Pandemic USA
-
I saw this on PSN yesterday and sailed right past it. The videos I saw a while back made it look like Lair 2.
-
i liked it, but i am a fan of the star wars battlefront games
it does not look like a ps2 game
it looks okay, not the greatest graphics in the world, but certainly better than, say, warhawk
i bet it'll be a lot of fun online
-
in single player the graphics must be a lot better cuz in MP it looks terrible. not ps2 level, but it is pretty freakin bad.
i haven't played SP so maybe the game plays better but the MP is horrible.
and i also love battlefront 1 & 2. but in those games i could easily hit what i was targeting.

This game is awesome. It's like Dynasty Warriors + Battlefront.
-
this game isn't that bad...it's better than Ninja Blade
biggest problem is that no single class can last on their own. I mean, it's good for playing as a team, but most people don't do that and it all falls apart.
-
battlefront 3 hasn't been canned, it switched developers
and yes, this game is bad.
-
Yeah, when I said it wasn't that bad yesterday, that was after I did the single player tutorial part. Online is really messy and the 'vehicles' are all terrible.
-
pandemic just fucking sucks this generation. last gen; mercenaries 1, battlefront (okay, it was a shameless ripoff), full spectrum warrior! fun, NOT SHITTY, NOT GLITCHY, NOT UGLY, and you could actually control them rather decently.
-
Technically this game is bad, but I was having fun with the online portion in the demo. The melee combat is really sloppy. I might rent it
-
oh well
Did you bother trying out God Hand OP?

It’s when you play as the hack-and-slash classes — the warrior and scout — that frustration digs in. Cutting through orcs and uruk-hai is easy enough, but it’s nearly impossible to do it without suffering tons of damage in the process. You have lots of useful combos but no lock-on options, and the blocking system is so vague that it’s hard to tell if you’re actually defending yourself. Most fights involving the warrior are a war of attrition, relying on having enough lives to see you through.

Moreover, the combat is pretty damn clunky. Throwing combos is something that's built into Conquest but there are no breakaway animations or preloading possible when fighting. What that leads to is a painful pause as you are forced to wait for the previous move to carry out. Slamming buttons and seeing no result can be a bit frustrating and it happens often in LOTR:C. It's not that the fighting system doesn't work; it's that it was poorly designed.
Graphically, The Lord of the Rings: Conquest is clearly built for multiplayer, which is to say that it's not exactly impressive. The best looking piece to the puzzle is the environmental sets that feel like they were designed by Peter Jackson himself (no doubt, they were). It's a bummer that everything is unimpressive. Textures are smudged and smeared around and character models could be much smoother and higher resolution. The framerate hitches on occasion and smoke has an odd effect on characters it surrounds.

will buy at $20 :hyper

Demo was amazing. Classes are balanced very well. If I could make any small changes I would make scouts take a little more damage and warriors take a little less damage but other than that, great job porting Battlefront into the superior Lord of the Rings universe :bow2
Graphics don't matter in a game like this.
-
I only played the demo but that review seems pretty unfinished. The scouts are REALLY deadly, especially in multiplayer where you can cloak and throw bombs, and you only switch to warriors when you need pure brute force. The classes seem very well balanced to me. The graphics are okay but the art is pretty good so it's a decent enough game to look at. I don't really like the mission structure though from what I've seen of it. It seems too repetitive.
-
The multi-player is lots of fun. I play the demo almost everyday. The gameplay needs more depth, though. Yeah, there's several classes and each one has several attacks but there isn't much beyond that. I would've liked to have some customization / ranks / leveling up... you know, being able to customize your character with different weapons and shit. Maybe you can do that in the full version.
-
There are more modes/maps/heroes in the final game. Ever been on a team full of people who talk and know what they're doing? It's far from shallow in that situation.
-
I thought the demo for this was horrible - clunky and unsatisfactory. But then again, I really liked the Fracture demo, so my opinion clearly doesn't count.
