the old PS3 mock up has 3 ethernet ports...why? it's cool that they got cut, but why put them on there in the first place? I can't think of a practical use for 2 ports, let alone three.

it's a sony thing - remember how the PSP was going to have 7.1 surround sound output too?
PS3 : it had two Hdmi ports too!
:lol Seriously?
-
PS3 doubles as a router?
and the double HDMI thing was for multiple monitors, right?
-
Yea, then you could run Heavenly Sword at 4 fps

I think it was.
I also think the multiple ethernet ports was either for router capabilites or a distributed network thing.

Remember "Cell Storage"? What the fuck was that about? :lol Kutaragi seemed to have some vision of the PS3 being the ultimate media HUB, probably factoring Digital Downloads. I guess that got thrown out the window.

I definitely heard the router thing somewhere, though who knows if it was from Sony itself or speculation. Of course, if it did come from Ken's mouth, it's some of the tamer bullshit he spun about the PS3. Remember all the ambiguous things they'd say about CELLs working together over a network and sharing processing or some similar pie in the sky shit?

there was all kinds of crazy shit at that 2005 conference. they went on for like ten minutes about some wacky hd camera network scheme that obviously never happened
-
In a way, all the promises got whittled down into a partly delivered Home.

The PS3 is mostly Krazy Ken's fault though. On the other hand, Krazy Marketing Team and Krazy PSN Decision-making team are still there.
