Title: DEFENSE GRID - new update :hyper

Decided to make a new thread out of the STEAM thread since it's utterly awesome.

FINALLY cleared Veil of Ice with no losses. Smashed littlemaths too and got a 40k score :o I fully upgraded my meteor and holy shit it does some awesome damage.

Such a good game, it really needs a demo though (if it doesnt have one)

BTW where can I check my steam achievements for it and what they are?

was browsing the achievements last night, one of them is surviving 100 waves in challenge mode :o

I really like that there's no juggling of towers like there is in Pixel Junk Monsters. I'm rarely at a stage where I have to sell/build/sell/build/etc... to clear a level. I'm finding clustering of types of towers and using the slowing tower on corners is the best strategy

Woot got 14th on one of the story leaderboards.  :D

Been playing it basically non-stop all day when I haven't been cooking or what not. Such a great TD implementation with lots of brain and character.

Valve should hook up with these guys and help them push out a left 4 dead thing sort of teader game like what they did with Peggle Extreme and The Orange Box.

Got up to the first locked level, there seems to be some awesome strategy you could make due to the up/down ramps.

frag is fucking owning me on the leaderboards :(

Finished all of the story missions with gold medals. Last one's really fun, but I think that the garbage disposal one (third to last) is probably the hardest to conceptualize and route traffic through.

Really looking forward to a co-op multiplayer mode and a level editor if they are planning either.

The game sells off everything at the end of the round and adds it to your score automatically.

the keys to high scores are:

*) never ever buy more than you need.

*) maximizing the damage from your towers. Towers that spend the entire time firing are more efficient than those that do not.

*) proper mazing, when appropriate, to force monsters to spend as much time in a tower farm as possible.

*) learning the type of waves so that you can optimize your tower choices. for example, if the natiest waves are hordes of weenies, properly placed inferno towers will do way way way more damage than, say, cannon towers or even gun towers will.

Temporals are absolutely vital, yeah. Probably even more so than in any other tower defense game I've played.

the first things i upgrade are the temporals too, theyre almost useless at green.

the fully upgraded meteor is so awesome on some levels
