Title: 24 thread (where's Bloodwake)
Post by: Phoenix Dark on January 03, 2009, 06:39:08 PM
Finished S5 a couple weeks ago and I gotta say it was the best season since S1. Great ending

Then I started S6...hm. First 4 episodes were good, but the more I watch the more outrageous it gets. I got to episode 8 and then stopped to watch The Wire; since the disk I need is rented out I'm gonna start up 24 again tonight sigh.

I really think the show neutered itself by killing so many of the primary characters. Right now none of the CTU stuff is interesting to me, mainly because so many fav faces are gone. Sure Chloe is still around but holy shit the drama with her ex and Milo is stupid. The terrorism arc feels old. In fact the only very interesting aspect is the White House drama. In seasons past "non-villain antagonist" meant someone who was an unbearable asshole - who'd eventually sacrifice himself in some patriotic fashion down the road. S6 introduces Tom Lennox who's actually an interesting guy I can disagree with, and not because he's an asshole. :bow

S1>S5>S2>S4>S3 so far

I've also been going through the series. Started a few weeks ago, got through season 1 and now have a few episodes left in season 2.

just think, you're going into season 6 knowing it's the worst.
maybe knowing that you'll be able to enjoy it more than we did.

Lennox and Powers Boothe are probably the only good things to come out of Season 6.

The actress who plays her is a Scino.   :-\

Boogie- don't forget Bauer's manly kill of the terrorist in like the 18th or 19th episode, which inspired Silver Spoon Ricky to go all "Damn Jack!"

My bad, you're right.  That episode was a lone island of badass in the middle of a vast sea of suckage.

Watched three more episodes and I'm liking teh overall plot but Chloe's ex needs to die holy shit he's annoying.

:lol @ Jack jumping out the house seconds before it explodes. So ridiculous it's awesome.

The Palmer situation is basically a more extreme version of what happened in S2 (people trying to undercut a president perceived as too weak to make the tough FP decisions). Still interesting enough though, especially with the bomb going off. I doubt he's dead

Charles Logan turning into a bearded Jesus freak is fitting. I wonder if he's involved in this shit despite his claims otherwise; maybe he wants to nuke the shit out of godless America.

Jack's dad is kinda badass but I'm not feeling the whole "introduce a bunch of family members never mentioned before" routine

edit: she's a scino irl? Damn. I lost my boner for a sec after Milo mentioned she was a republican (as if that resolved her from possible terrorist sympathies)

S6 is complete balls, but the pre-season 7 episode was pretty good. Vague hopes for this one.

Bloodwake's computer is dead in the water until he gets back to college, iirc.

I liked S6 personally.  Then again, I don't get too in depth with them, I just watch them for fun.  If they entertain me, I enjoy them.  There's some things later in the season that really got me up and going.  I remember watching them and then calling Bloodwake the second it went to commercial or off air and just yelling OH MY FUCK DID YOU FUCKING SEE WHAT I JUST WATCHED?

So stick with it.  It gets better, imo.

Season 6: The first four episodes were good, then the writers got confused. There are good moments throughout the season, but it's obviously the worst season of 24 and I couldn't even finish it when I tried to rewatch it.

Can't say I didn't like episodes 9-12. Like I said, the political intrigue this season is great, even if it's a more extreme version of what happened in S2.

Jack infiltrating the Russian consulate was dumb though. I realize the show rehashes a bunch of stuff but come on

So far I'm enjoying 24 for fun but I find myself rolling my eyes a lot
spoiler (click to show/hide)
-comically aggressive vice president
-another fucking mole. I think Nadia is being set up, probably by that Doyle dude
-LOL @ Mrs. Logan stabbing Charles
-SMH @ Jack breaking into another consulate building

Wow, the 15th episode of S6 is the worst episode (of the show) that I've ever seen. That being said: Brady :bow  :lol  :lol

spoiler (click to show/hide)
-distinguished mentally-challenged fellow dude helping Jack
-laughably stupid CTU drama
-Milo giving Nadia the dumbest kiss ever
-soon to be handicapped Palmer being revived from the coma

Alright, code words for 24

Bauer lite - Chase
Black Bauer - Curtis
Bauer 2 - Doyle (who should be in the next season at some point)]

It always has to be said like this: Naked Mandy.

Doyle meh. He really needs to grow a beard or something. I can't take his baby face seriously

I have no idea why they forgot about Chase. You'd think they'd be building up someone to take Jack's place to a certain extent. Not full time, but a badass partner. Plus the tension between them would be awesome after he dumped Kim's sorry ass.
