Title: I've seen the light. May the god of piracy shine down upon me.
Post by: fistfulofmetal on January 12, 2009, 01:38:27 AM
For the longest time I've used Azureus. People told me it was shit, but the program was good to me. I felt comfortable with it. It was like my favorite blanket.
Sure it wasn't as soft as the other blankets. Sure it wasn't as thick as the other blankets. Suuuure it has some rips and tears here and there. And yeeeah it might smell a bit funkie, but damnit! it was my blanket and I enjoyed it.

But the day came. The day came where my blanket just couldn't hold it's own. Azureus became Vuze. I attempted to hold on tight. I wanted dearly to keep it, but the days of never getting more than 50kb/s down was over. The final straw was when Vuze suddenly caused the entire network to drop.

So here I am. Here I am with uTorrent installed. I have the Taken torrent i've been trying to download for a few days running at 500kb/s. I've never downloaded torrents that fast. Never in my life.

I understand now. Azureus/Vuze is garbage. I've seen the light.

If you're just getting to torrents, and I'm almost done with torrents and doing the direct download thing, then what's the level above that?

Maybe there's some truth to it though.

I remember using Bittornado. Fucking shit man, each torrent would open a standalone app and shit. Port configuration was disgustingly complicated, I think certain functions were manipulated via cmd. Fuck! uTorrent is like the epitome of torrent apps.

Yeah Transmission's awesome, especially since it's been updated so much in the past year.  Pretty much eliminates any desire for uTorrent on Mac (which has hilariously and finally come in alpha/beta form after no one cares about it.)

In other news, F' Blackcat-games in the butt for completely locking themselves out from the general Net. Its like a secluded torrent community now (no possible way to get in, not even an "invitation" system set up). You can see their trackers still, people seeding in leeching from within the community but there's no way you can access it.

haha, I used to be a mod at blackcat back in the day. I don't pirate anywhere near enough to find the risk of being a mod at a torrent site worth it.

I just ACCIDENTALLY DELETED ALL MY FUCKING MUSIC (OS X needs to not search my external HDD, FUUUUUCK), which isn't too big of a deal since it was all on my iPod... I think I'm finally going to switch to Transmission.

Used to be freeware, now it's shareware with a 30-day trial that (I think?) will let you rip music from your iPod as much as you need to.  I don't know if you were planning on doing something similar or re-download all your music, but whatever.  Should save you some time and effort if you were planning on the latter.

I got PodWorks from a friend, which did the trick, but thanks.  :)
