There's only so many quick choices for lunch around here, and Chick-Fil-A is the lesser of many evils and I've had my fill of Subway. I'll go there once or twice each week.

I got a #3 at Churches Chicken today. Never been there before, and one opened up near work. Reminded me of Popeye's, but nowhere near as salty.

Was it good?  I hadn't heard of this place until an advert showed up in the mailbox.  Apparently this place is in the Bay Area.  A lot of them.  Who knew?

I've had Ezell's up in Seattle.  Quite good.  No coagulated grease lurking beneath the battered skin.  They have bread pudding.  And those rolls were good, too.

Churches is a lot like Popeyes. Better than KFC, but it's still clearly standard fast food crispy chicken. It wasn't super expensive, which was nice.

Ezell's is incredible. Haven't been there for ages, though...

researching tv's... have to go for something "modest" what with impending financial suicide of child on the way.

but it's painful, every time i look at a TV that is in the "yeah, that's not a bad price" it is ALWAYS situated within viewing distance of the Kuro range which, frankly, take every other tv round the back of the building and fist/pizzle/feltch/beat to death/revive/stick barbed wire up it's anos/frot/bukkake/kill again.

Sigh, so yeah, all i bought was some potatoes and some milk. :/

What's, uh, modest? I have a hard-on for the Samsung 850 series, which will be purchased ASAP when I go home this summer from school. :o so nice

the definition is "not a Kuro" at the moment.... lol.

I guess i should be aiming for around $2000 and not a $6000 monster.

Mrs C is picking up the tab too :boogie

Seriously, look at the Samsung 850 or 950 models. You can get an 850 46'' for around $2,000 now, and 950 (LED FTW!) for like $2500. I was at best buy the other day and my jaw literally dropped when I saw the 850 running blu-ray. zomg

Yeah, I like those, too.  My entire work wardrobe comes from those two stores, but I slightly prefer the BR pants because they're so damn soft and comfortable, and they fit me perfectly.

i had a coupon so i bought The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Quote
Mikael Blomkvist, a once-respected financial journalist, watches his professional life rapidly crumble around him. Prospects appear bleak until an unexpected (and unsettling) offer to resurrect his name is extended by an old-school titan of Swedish industry. The catch--and there's always a catch--is that Blomkvist must first spend a year researching a mysterious disappearance that has remained unsolved for nearly four decades. With few other options, he accepts and enlists the help of investigator Lisbeth Salander, a misunderstood genius with a cache of authority issues. Little is as it seems in Larsson's novel, but there is at least one constant: you really don't want to mess with the girl with the dragon tattoo. --Dave Callanan

You can get Beer Chips at Winco Foods, apparently. Fred Meyer had them during the summer of 2007 as a test run, but they didn't carry them very long.

this weekend saw me in a fit of consumerist orgy of spending

saturday i bought Red November, a cooperative boardgame, the dnd starter kit (i have been asked to teach a few hipster friends about DnD and figured this would be a fun inexpensive way to teach them and even if we never play it again, it's cheaper than a night out in ny), also picked up snow boots and socks.

saturday, kim's video in the village was moving so they sold their inventory at half off.  picked up some great records on the cheap and a rare oop scott walker CD

i paid $20 to the great state of new york for having an open container

the courthouse on broadway is totally 70s cop film action.  if you ever get busted for something negligible (i watched an old latino woman fined $200 for selling popcorn in a park), do it in the districts which feed that court house.

I bought a fucking power window regulator. The glass fell into the door for me earlier, which was nice. It's not covered under warranty, which is even better. The pricks at the dealership told me it would be $585 to fix.  >:(

I found the "$400" part online for FORTY-THREE DOLLARS, and will just replace it my damn self.  I don't think the part will get here until Thursday or Friday though, so I might have to tape it up or something at night if I can't fish the window out from the well.  :'(

That's really cool, wonder if the company is from around here - Hauppauge is the name of the town right next to me, and there's a pretty big industrial park there, so it could be.

I bought this off of Lyte and it came in the mail yesterday:

If I can loose a bit of weight with little to minimum effort other than changing my eating i'm sure you can too dude. I wish ya the best of luck.

Also Diet Dr Pepper Cherry Vanilla is a godsend, I never had a diet drink in my life till just a few weeks ago and now i'm addicted. I've got my sugar down and am off my diabetes medication in just the past 4 weeks.

Fatties, today I ate this:

Burger King Mushroom & Swiss Steakhouse Burger

It wasn't really good. It's basically a basic burger shaped like a rectangle with A1 sauce topped with swiss cheese, stale mushrooms, and crispy onions. The only good part of the burger is the swiss cheese.

Diet Cherry Coke is good, too.  I can also tolerate Diet Dr. Pepper and Diet Coke.  I'm 28 and slowly adding weight so I had to make the switch to diet in the last year.  It's tough.

Anyway. make sure you drink plenty of water in between those diet drinks.  I know they're not as bad for you as the real things, but they're still not the best for you.

portion control, food monitoring, a strict eating schedule. I had to get some help with my entree sizes cause I didn't know what normal portion was. And a lot of people dont realize that the body doesn't need a huge meal. Just small meals, with snacks in between meals. Just changing how I eat and how big of portions I've gone from horrible 385 pounds (largest i've been ever) to 345 pound in just a few weeks.

Don't be a pussy.

If that's not an option, you can replace your bad habits with less bad habits.  If you must have fast food, have Subway or at least get the healthier options from the menu, including fruit as a side.  Replace your soft drinks with a combination of diet drinks and water.  Replace your candy with healthier snacks like fruit or rice cakes or something.  Try to exercise on a bike or an elliptical machine.  They are low enough impact that you can still read while working out.  If you can't be bothered to exercise at all, at least try to place a sport and walk (or jog) around your neighborhood.

Don't fuck with your heart, especially with your family's history.  You don't want to be dead in your late 30s like my father (heart attack at 39).

And seriously, don't be a pussy.

First, your advice is basically sound. But seriously, no offense man, but no-one should be taking diet advice from someone based on getting down to 345lbs. At 385lbs, it's VERY easy to lose weight. All you have to do is stop the abuse of your body for a while. A ton of that is going to be water weight too.

This guy says he is 'just starting to get a belly' so he's in a totally different situation. I don't know what he weighs but going from 200lbs to 160lbs, say, is much much harder than from 385lbs to 345lbs. Most people are going to need to more a lot more than simply eliminating some of the grosser problems in your diet and lifestyle.

I went from 205 to 180 in four and a half months just by running 3-5 times a week (while being a daily smoker and boozing a considerable amount 4x/week). I'd imagine that I'm also younger than a lot of you though, so that definitely has something to do with how seemingly easy it was. The secret, I think, is cutting back on bullshit food and decreasing portions while increasing exercise and kicking your ass everyday at the gym. Also, four and a half months isn't that short of a time. Don't expect immediate results at all.

Thanks to Christmas break (what's up, pie and beer?), though, I'm back up to around 186, which will go away since I'm back at school, running 5x / week and walking nearly everywhere.

I'm toying with the idea of buying KZ2...

Oh, I thought this was funny: Playboy has a review of Prinny (PSP) in the new issue. 3 1/2 stars out of 5.

Yeah, I noticed that too! I NEVER thought I'd see that game in Playboy, especially since they usually cover only the super-mainstream games and licensed drivel. I think they rate out of 4, btw.

The story on Guinea-Bissau was awesome too.

what the hell is this will power voodoo you people keep talking about?

I don't get the concept either.
This.

I really need to get healthier.  I'm 21 and starting to get a belly on me...  I eat fast food every day for lunch and sometimes for dinner, and drink soft drinks all day long.  I sit at my desk and eat candy like nobody's business.  I don't exercise either, and it doesn't help that I have heart problems in my family.  I know that I lead this terribly unhealthy lifestyle, but I can't seem to change it.   :(  What's the secret?
Man WTF I'm like 1.5 times your size.
It doesn't show really, but I've noticed more and more lately that I've gained a lot of weight.  I'm heavier now than I've ever been, and the pure weight wouldn't be as much of a factor for me if I thought some of it might me muscle, but thinking that I have any muscle on me just makes me laugh uncontrollably.

Don't fuck with your heart, especially with your family's history.  You don't want to be dead in your late 30s like my father (heart attack at 39).

And seriously, don't be a pussy.

The reason I started thinking about this is because my friend Steve (22) was walking into work a couple months back and dropped because of a heart attack.  They got him to a hospital, but just to think that someone that's in about the same shape that I'm in... it can happen to him?  It should happen to me.

And I'm still working on that last part.
