Title: I almost died on my flight yesterday, so I get a free ticket for free!
Post by: The Fake Shemp on December 02, 2006, 11:10:07 AM: I flew United back home this weekend, and already the flight sucked since they overbooked Economy Plus, I'm too tall to see the TV monitors and the audio/video was out. So I complained, along with the guy next to me. The flight attendant said she'd look into it.

Then, flying on the way in - we hit turbulence. And I'm a travel warrior; I fly all the time and turbulence almost never bothers me. Here, I was scared for my life. I had a window seat and it looked like I was stuck in a washing machine, with the plane rocking back and forth and dropping thousands of feet in altitude in a matter of seconds. The entire plane started screaming, and the flight attendants got spooked, crouched in the aisles (holding on for dear life) and starting talking to themselves into a panic.

Touchdown even seemed pretty dicey, but I made it back to the D.C. metro area safe and sound, and for my awesomely horrible flight experience, United will be sending me a free travel certificate.

So if you want a free ticket, tell your pilot to fly into sheer winds.

Post by: Diablos on December 02, 2006, 12:25:58 PM: I hate airplanes... I couldn't fly all the time. It would drive me nuts. Once I get in the air I'm ok. But I always think about going through something like you did and then actually crashing. I know the odds are slim to none, but there's just something really discomforting about knowing it's just you and a plane up there.

But jesus i remember one flight to arizona we hit a monsoonal storm that poped out out of no where. The plane felt like it was free diving to avoid the lightening and rain. You go from semi neutral position to going down in just seconds. It put me off on traveling on planes. That and my weight.

Try flying international and having one of the engines fail when you are half way over the Atlantic. Shiiiit. Ya'll ain't hardcore at all.

Post by: mikesphat on December 03, 2006, 11:58:52 AM: well mild turbulence is merely a bother... but there are situations where wind can bring down planes... while its very rare these days... it does happen... if you think turbulence in a passenger jet is fun... you should try it in a 2 seater single engine... :-X
