God I was going to try this but maybe not now :-\
My friend convinced me to buy this game, and so far I'm not liking it at all. I bought the original way back when it came out (along with my 360 and plasma TV), played through it and had fun but who knows how much of my enjoyment came from playing one of the best looking games of the time on a 42" plasma. But this new one, seems like a total rehash of the first game, with even more cheeseball dialogue and more story/cinematics that take itself MUCH too seriously. The graphic sheen has even worn off on me, as I'm sick of UE3 unless you do something real creative with it (like Mirror's Edge). Not to mention I'm finding the movement really chuggy, especially after the smoothness of COD4.
SP/co-op rocks
Horde rocks
Today is the day I finally swore off multi, it's unplayable.

I would've been better off taking my $60 I spent on this and put it towards the AC Blu-Ray/FFXIII demo :-\

Yeah...I've barely even tried it outside of some private matches and even with friends, it's not as fun as it should be. There's a reason why I don't talk about multi when I fellate Gears 2. :(
Just like an Auburn fan to not bring up one crucial part of a game for the sake of hyping something.spoiler (click to show/hide)LOL Tony Franklin[close]

It's not crucial to me since the sp/co-op and horde modes provide more than enough game for me. Just because something is there, it doesn't mean it's crucial.spoiler (click to show/hide)LOL Kentucky football[close]
Horde is great. That said, I haven't played the game since the first week I bought it.
Also, Insane mode is too unbalanced.Yeah, that's one complaint I have as well. I want to enjoy the more difficult enemies of insane mode, but you simply take too much damage too quickly.

This game is exactly the fucking same as the first one.
This game is exactly the fucking same as the first one.
I'm almost at the end, and i highly disagree.
The game has much more "unique" situations (action set pieces), much more varied environments, more enemies, and a couple of gameplay additions like using locusts as shields.
If you are a gamer and you say they are exactly the same, then you don't know what exactly the same means, and if you are a developer, then i worry if you understand what a sequel is, but who am i kidding...sequels mean the previous game was successful in some way.
I'm not saying that Gears of War 2 is the Pro Evolution Manager to Gears of War Simpsons Hit and Run, i'm saying that Gears of War 2 is the 2 to Gears of War 1. You know, it's a sequel.

Fine, fine. It's Gears Of War 1.5. Or Gears Of War Champion Edition, if you prefer.

It's not about being fun.
That difficulty level is described as Insane, normally the hardest difficulty setting is reserved for the most hardcore of the hardcore. So when you add these two together you realize that maybe that setting isn't meant to be beaten by any gamer.
So stop feeling like somehow that difficulty setting should let YOU win, and stop complaining about how hard it is. If there's anything funny about these "ultra hard" modes, is the dudes who complain about it being "unfair/Unbalanced/too hard". Seriously.
Some gamers find "normal" too hard, you know what they do? Switch to easy. They don't go around complaining.

OK, but Gears 1 exists, with an Insane mode, and doesn't do that shit.
I got 4/5ths through it, stop being such a caustic distinguished mentally-challenged fellow at all times.

Yeah, Gears 1 exists. Gears 2 ain't Gears 1. See, just one more thing where they are different. Stop complaining about games being "unfair" in the hardest difficulties.
Gears 2 Insane is easier than Gears 1
Just finished it.
Pretty amazing. This was flatout the best "summer action blockbuster" game of the generation, even better than COD4.
Bungie should be ashamed, Gears 2 is how you do it. Amazing.
How the fuck MGS4 is getting nominated for GOTY's while this isn't, is beyond comprehension, this game pulls the whole "movie like experience" thing much better than MGS4, and the gameplay never lets go.
I mean, what is it? It doesn't have 30 min briefing cut scenes? Is that what makes MGS4 so special?
Gears is like playing a summer blockbuster. It's a big, dumb, fun movie. A good comparison is Iron Man.
MGS4 is the big-budget, pretentious art house movie with a few interesting bits that just goes on for WAY too long. A good comparison is Che.

I don't think those are good comparisons.
I would say that a good comparison to Gears 2 is Bad Boys 2. Violent, balls to the wall action, dumb fun humor and characters, who cares but fun story.
Metal Gear Solid 4 was more like...something like Chronicles of Riddick, it's cheesy as all hell but takes itself super serious, tries to be something it's not, and often forgets what was so great about the concept in the first place (Pitch Black). But has a huge budget.
:bow Xenos :bow2
What difficulty are you on

I"m still getting used to the controls.
It's all new to me. So whatever you want, I'll do. :-*
Army of Two co-op campaign > Gears 2 co-op campaign.
