Today, I went looking for some of the tracks from Thrasher: Skate and Destroy. Twelve hours later, I'm still listening to hip-hop. Black (or wannabe black) people are great at hiding greatness under shitpiles like Lil Wayne. SMMFH @ people on youtube.

a lot of that era's rap is pretty damn good.
it's probably my favorite time in hip hop
-
I also just discovered this great band called Pearl Jam. Why had nobody ever told me about these dudes? They kinda rock.

I really like A Tribe Called Quest, and I'm no fan of hip-hop.

Q-tip's new solo record is really damn good too.

Midnight Marauders is one of my favorite albums ever. :)

I don't know about that... The lyrics are great, but the beats are insanely underwhelming. I get bored like four songs in every time.

You might like Black Sheep too.

They had one of the strongest debut albums of the era. Same kind of vibe as Tribe, I think Q-tip was even on one of their songs.

And I don't know what the dance of that era was called, but it's fucking awesome. (See: the dancing stick figures in the "I Left My Wallet in El Segundo" video)
