I used to like comic books but there's just smh (so much homo). I don't even know what's supposed to be going on in Final Crisis.

I only read trade paperbacks, the continuity in most comics has gone way past crap.

Yeah.  The new thing these past few years seems to be making these huge, "universe-shattering event" storylines, too.   One Crisis should have been enough, but we got like what...three since 2004?  And Marvel is no better, although I think the ideas of what they're doing are more exciting.  Haven't really read much of anything though.  I laughed at the "ending" to Batman RIP...they fucked it all up with Final Crisis.  I thought the point of these was to clean up continuity and make things easier to follow, but it seems just as complex and stupid as before.  And I am beyond sick and tired of the same three guys writing fucking everything.  Give it a rest.

Since I have been back in the States, I bought some Conner/Palmiotti stuff I missed (like Terra) and Adam Warren's Empowered.  Fuck the rest.

Seriously, Marvel and DC need to take a break off this big events bullshit.

They said Final Crisis is supposed to be the "final" crisis, but you know next year it just going to be something else.

Love me some Adam Warren, mang.  It's crazy how long he's been at it; I think maybe only some of the AP guys like Ben Dunn have done the whole manga-style thing longer.  I wanna say the first Dirty Pair comic I read from Warren and Smith was one of the Sim Hells back in '92 or '93.

event comics suck

I think done once in a while it's good, but it looks like Marvel has made it a normal part of their comics....one big event ends, another starts right up.  Ugh.

Yeah, I'm pretty much ditching all the spandex clad funny books because of this nonsense.

I think it's totally hysterical how the industry imploded when they were doing huge crossover events with multiple, "limited edition" printings of various comic covers in the 90s.  They not only drove away a good portion of their reader base, but failed to compete against new forms of entertainment and tried to bleed their dwindling base dry with these absurd, usually horrible "events".

Then Marvel and DC, facing the scary brink of death, had a resurgence when they streamlined their titles, did away with convoluted continuity and large crossover events and saw new readers from the boom of film adaptations.  Just when you think they had it right, by infusing new talent with a stronger focus on good storytelling and not showmanship, they gradually fell back on bad habits.  First, a few crossover events.  Then bigger ones.  Now it's the same old shit - even with multiple limited edition covers of the same frakin' comic book.  Totally idiotic.

I got Sim Hell a few months ago and I'd like to pick up some more of his Dirty Pair comics, but most of them are way out of print.  :'(

I thought NHS was amazing in the late 80s and early 90s.  Then I discovered all the series Dunn effectively ripped off. What's funny is that he drew the Project A-Ko comic adaption for CPM Manga.

NHS pretty much went to complete shit when he lost interest and did the Warrior Nun thing. Volume 2 was awful.
