Mexican federal agents captured 540 assault rifles, more than 500,000 rounds of ammunition, 150 grenades, 14 cartridges of dynamite, 98 fragmentation grenades, 67 bulletproof vests, seven Barrett .50-caliber sniper rifles and a Light Anti Tank (LAW) rocket.

A recently retired Mexican army general whose bullet-riddled body was found Tuesday near Cancun had taken over as the area's top antidrug official less than 24 hours earlier, officials said.
I'd say these drug lords are serious about ruling Mexico. Also I don't think I'd go to Mexico for a vacation anytime soon either.

If the messican government had any balls, this would have been crushed already. It really shows that the drug cartels have a good chunk of the government on the payroll.

Wouldn't surprise me if they did. They get access to military grade weapons and plus 17,000 Mexican Army deserters just last year who went over to the cartels as well.

Maybe the drug lords are pissed they didn't get a role in the last COD game :o
On a serious note, hopefully the Mexican government can turn things around and if I'm not mistaken I believe the US gives money (support) to their government to oppose these guys.

Lolz, drug war. SMH old people and social conservatives.
wow, so there isn't a war between Mexico and the Drug Cartels currently going on, which CNN and FOX< and other REPUTABLE news sites says there is?

Way to completely miss the point of my post, dude.
Well, since I obviously missed your post's point, what does my posting of two different stories about things happening in the Mexican Government/Drug Cartel war have to do with old people and social conservatives?

He is saying that all of this is happening because of the distinguished mentally-challenged war on drugs.

Ahh. Ok. Well that leads to a whole different spectrum of arguments.

We could always legalize it, let farmers make some of that bread. America might actually start producing something again.

:lol :lol
But would legalizing it help us really? Didn't China do something liek that to a drug and the demand basically dropped to almost nil? That would be a good way to drop demand if it worked though.

Actually, they made opium illegal and gave people like 30 days to get clean before they killed all the junkies. After that the demand did basically drop to nil though.

Drug cartels buy most of their weapons legally in the US and then smuggle them across the border. I think you can even buy assault rifles legally in some states. Obviously they got the explosives through some other means though.

Sorry I wasn't clearer. I knew they got some from the U.S., such as the civilian M16 equivalent. I was thinking about the grenades, the .50 cals, and the tank rockets.
(If I could buy a .50 military grade sniper rifle legally, oh boy.)

yeah, but like you said they must have some officers on the payroll. it's no wonder that mexico has such strict gun laws.
