Post by: Flannel Boy on February 06, 2009, 09:55:18 AM: Canada shed 129,000 jobs* in January. This is despite the fact that 31,000 health-care and social assistance sector jobs were added. This means private sector job losses were closer to 200,000.

Ontario, home to Canada's auto sector, lost 71,000 jobs.

*Because of the population difference, this would be the equivalent of America losing over one million jobs in a single month.
