Title: Donate to Burnout
Post by: Bebpo on February 06, 2009, 08:50:14 PM
I put Burnout Paradise back in after the new update and wow, it's so amazing how much they keep adding and freshening up the game.  I played the hell out of it when it came out and did most of it, but this is the first game this gen I am starting over and doing it all again and enjoying it just as much with all the changes.

So what does that have to do with the topic title?  Well since Criterion have given GREAT dlc already and more than almost any other game this gen has gotten for FREE so far and have lots of great FREE dlc coming including the entire freaking new city, the fact that their first pay DLC has like...nothing is really odd.  It's just like offline multiplayer challenges and no one cares about that really.  So I've seen a lot of people starting an idea that screw it, even if you're not going to play offline MP, if you feel like you want to give Criterion back for all the work they've done with all their FREE dlc, donate $10 and buy the party pack.  If enough people do it EA will make money and keep  happy with what Criterion is doing and allow them to keep making and releasing free stuff.

BP was one of the best games I played last year and might be this year as well with all the new stuff they are adding.  Keep Paradise City running!  Donate to Criterion if you feel in the mood!

I'm thinking of picking this up on PS3.  I'm still pretty busy with MotorStorm 2, though.

I'll pass on the party pack, but I'm considering buying it since its only $20 and they finally - you know, finally - fixed the main complaint (besides the whole overworld crap).

I will be buying the movie car pack, I'll buy any extra islands or things like that, but I really don't have any interest in the party pack.  If I was going to spend money to support this game even more, I'd get it on PC.

Burnout Paradise is really big.  It's not just a great game, it's also the first console game release to be put on a digital distribution service (sadly hasn't caught on), it has free substantial DLC in a time when another EA game would have DLC that would give you fake money for real money, it is one of the few multiplatform games that is almost perfect on both systems, one of the only games to make use of each systems camera, seamless online service that hasn't been copied nearly enough.  The game is just awesome.  If you compare the first release to where it is now, it almost has more than some sequels get

The only thing BP is really missing is the crash mode from the old games.  They should make it as DLC and just use set locations in the city :D

Yeah, I really missed the crash mode in BP. Had so much fun with that in the previous games.

I'd definitely buy that add-on.

Showtime mode sucks so much.

Already have it on PSN; got the party pack. The amount of free DLC Criterion has worked into the game really is amazing.

Yes. You don't need the party pack to have it patched in FYI.

Awesome. I think I'll wait until the Paradise Island pack comes out later this year to really crack out on it again though. I last played it when the bikes came out.

It also looks like they are going to be charging for the DLC this year.  :'(

Not allowing you to instantly retry a failed race/challenge. Or the awful changes they made to the crash mode.

I want to get this game for the PC, but they are charging $40 for it when it's $20 new on the 360/PS3. I'll wait for a sale, as much as it pains me (I really liked it on the 360, but the dual monitor and wheel support make the PC more attractive).

The offline MP isn't simultaneous, right?

you guys take turns doing quick objectives, then they compare the scores and all that.

it's more like a $10 increase since the PC version includes the party pack

I'll donate more money if Criterion gets the green light to bring back Road Rash.  :-*

is this just local multiplayer on the PC? because that's just not appealing at all.

I do think they could make an awesome Road Rash with the BP engine.

I do think they could make an awesome Road Rash with the BP engine.

All they need to do is let me whack opposing riders with a tire iron, two-by-four, cattle prod, chainlink, whatever. And more Soundgarden.  :-*

I'm pretty sure the PC version would also have online multiplayer.  It just also includes the local multiplayer stuff right away instead of making it a $10 DLC pack.

a demo for the pc version came out recently I think

I'll be spending some hard-earned zeni on BP content soon, because I agree about those goofballs doing so much insane crap for free. On the other hand, I don't think it's going to be nearly as effective as their re-launch of the game in the Box format. That should net them some new DLC sales as well when the island comes out. They'll be OK, right?

I picked up the Ultimate Box for PS3 (!) over the weekend. It rocks. Now I wish I had trusted them and ignored that shitty demo.
