Crysis developer Crytek has told GamesIndustry.biz that the acquisition of Free Radical Design will accelerate the developer's plans to enter the console market.

Another nail in the PC coffin. Soon the only thing left will be WoW and Excel.

crysis in the haze engine confirmed.

Honestly Crysis would have been great as a console game as it was designed right out of the box, it's just that there is simply no way that they were going to fit that engine and its wonderful art assets into the consoles.
They should strip down Crysis and Warhead into something even the budget :gloomy PS3 GPU :gloomy can run, throw in the Crysis Wars multiplayer mode that is actually really good that they released for the PC, and call it the MAXIMUM SPANKAGE box or something and sell it for $60 . They'd sell millions.

In fantasy land,yes. :P
Simultaneous release for future projects.
-
That just means console version will be fucked, unless the console version is the the platform they create their whole game around.
In which case PC versions will suck or need to be different. :-\

Crysis Instincts, brought to you by the developers of Haze.

Valve would be smart to do something like this.
edit: actually it would be cheaper to hire away the talent instead.

Yeah, I understand wanting a dedicated console team, but Free Radical? I don't recall Haze having good tech or particularly good game mechanics.

I'm not convinced that it has to be this way. I mean, Crysis could have been a console game just fine, and it was a fun, fun PC shooter. Same for Far Cry 2, which was a great console game that I just so happened to play on the PC.
Now if you include the wii anywhere in this, yeah all hope is lost.

A new Timesplitters using the Crysis engine. Imagine how awesome the monkeys will look!

I don't know.
They are B level studio. But if Guerilla can go from shit to good, then i'm sure Free Radical can do better too under Crytek's wing.
