Title: The weekend approaches, what are you playing?
Post by: Mr. Gundam on February 12, 2009, 09:23:06 PM

Bought this back in October, but I'm finally now getting around to playing it. Currently on the second chapter and loving it. Damn shame Sega doesn't seem interested in localizing this for North America or Europe.

SRW Z

Map 36 with Rand, all branches covered so far
Map 27 with Setsuko, all branches covered so far

60 maps total in the game, so just over 50% through.  Woohoo!  At the rate I'm marathoning it I might have it done by RGG3 time :D

Such a good SRW game.

Yggdrasil Union PSP- At the very beginning, haven't gotten a feel for the SRPG + Card system yet. Makes me want to get the Saturn emu working and play Dragon Force instead.

Final Fantasy IV DS-Only at the very beginning but I'm not a big fan of how incredibly generous it is with giving the player items. I prefer my old school RPG's slightly cruel.

SSF2THDR-I'm still playing it. Wish I got my joystick this week.  :(

R-Type Dimensions- Still doing a one credit run. I can make it midway through stage 4 at the moment.

Tales of Vesperia- Just boarded Heracles. Inching my way closer to the end, and then I start Fallout 3 finally.

Bangai-O Spirits- I would be enjoying this more if it wasn't for the fact that my L button decided to stop working on me recently.

I played SRWZ when it first came out, but didn't get very far before sticking it in the backlog. I should really get back to it...

It's definitely on par with the Alpha games.  This team is awesome at making great SRW titles.  It's too bad you have to pay another $50 for the battle viewer disc :(  Some of the animations are crazy awesome.

Fallout 3 - finishing up some side missions and achievements before playing to the end...I want to hold off as closely as possible to the March DLC before I finish it
FEAR 2 - will start on it tomorrow
Flower - will likely be done with it tomorrow
Gears of War 2 - Horde and maybe some co-op
Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection - getting all the points and then I might start a real game of Beyond Oasis or Shining Force

SSF2T HDR - I forgot how much using an arcade joystick kills my hands.  I can feel it in my joints here and there a day after playing.  Maybe I'll go back to the Saturn pad. :piss RSI :piss2

Uh, dunno what else. Maybe some Umihara Kawase.

I finished Flower today, might go back to it.  I have Halo 3 and Far Cry 2 from Gamefly, and I might work on Forza 2 a bit.  I was going to play Halo 3 to see what has changed (and to get more achievements, lol), but now I'm not even sure if I want to.  Half the multiplayer modes (and my favorite, big team battles) require a ten dollar map pack, and I'm not buying that.  And I didn't care for the SP initially.  Bleh. :/

Far Cry 2 seems pretty cool, except that I'm figuring out every single damned person talks extremely fast to the point of gibberish, and that I have to drive everywhere to do a new mission.  I hope it gets better.

I've tried to give Far Cry 2 another chance but fuck this game, seriously.  I want to like it and it seems like a game I should love but there are so many galacticly stupid design decisions in it that it sucks away any potential enjoyment I may get out of the thing.

If by Banjo you mean the XBLA verison, then YES.

N&B is depressing.

Will redo flower on my main account to get the bachievTrophies.

I'll potentially rebuy an X360 joystick and see if i can stop SUCKING ASS at SF4 (highly unlikely)

slowly wandering through the side stuff for Fallout 3

and i guess i might start some other RPG after that... Lost Odyssey maybe.

dc- play Last Remnant over LO if you haven't yet.  It's got some graphical issues and occasional slowdown, but the battles are OMG WOWSOME.  Shame it didn't sell for poop apparently.

What?  No.  Nuts and Bolts is great as long as you know what you're getting into.  It's all about creating/testing vehicles and finding parts - the game is like fooling around with legos.

Post by: Fragamemnon on February 15, 2009, 09:16:24 AM
Nuts and Bolts is a good game, but I found that the game's singular idea just doesn't stay fresh after 10 hours or so of play. I stopped playing about a halfway through since it felt like I was doing the same sort of things over and over again without the game getting much more difficult or forcing me to adapt to a new set of challenges.

I liked it at first but yeah, the fetch mission formula felt sort of grating. I completely enjoyed the atmosphere of it all throughout, though.

Depends; if you think you'd like the whole "lego creation aspect", and you're willing to go through challenges solely consisting of races and "bring this to that," then yeah, it's worth it.  I really enjoyed the game; got 860/1000 points, played it for 21 hours, 95 Jiggies, etc, but I also got it for $26.  Download the demo or rent it if you can – if you like the concept, get it.

:zzz Retro Game Challenge :zzz

It's pretty cool that these faux retro games have little twists in the gameplay that make them feel current and more ingenious than the games they're pretending to be. And by combining old 2D styles with the most modern gameplay style (achievements), it's all, like, whoa.

Disaster day of crisis review: alright, better than most Wii games.  Nintendo is pretty distinguished mentally-challenged for not releasing it here when the only thing they would need to change are the 'ou' stuff to 'o'.
