it's normally bi-weekly, but we had a guest

it'll be a rarity to have two episodes in two consecutive weeks

The only annoying thing left is that it goes One, 2, 3.

I definitely think that those dirtbag guys buys their bullshit-they live their delusion, which is why they can keep on. They would snap back into reality at some point but their readers basically provide raw energy to keep the delusion running.

Glad Andrew made a reference to "The Secret" in this discussion, it's a good comparison.

it's interesting-the difference between, say, tongue-speaking, demon-exorcising Southern Baptists, raging libertarian distinguished mentally-challenged fellows, and roissy is basically a different ruleset. Think of their sort of self-contained, fully closed set bubble framework like you would GURPS or a programming API-a generic framework by which anyone can implement their own ruleset provided that it meets the appropirate public interfaces.

mixing metaphors, but yeah you get my drift.

i wish there were a way to link this up on GAF without causing a big deal or forum drama, as i think there'd be a bunch of folks in the off-topic section who might dig it

i've personally never had a problem with evilore (i don't even think we've ever interacted, to be honest), and our show only has the slightest connection to this site, as we do a lot of general interest subjects and leave out the wink-wink insider jokes for the most part

I'm tempted to ask if I can post one that I'm on later if it happens, if only because the longtime mod staff-Hito, Evilore, Tekno, Dragona-are people I've always had a good relations with.

oh, it'll happen, we intend to have guests every show from now on unless scheduling prevents

three people makes for a good cross-talk dynamic, and it turned out that we didn't have much lag at all on skype

it was also a lot easier to edit than i thought it would be  (either that, or i'm just getting better at it)

I'm loving it so far, great observations on Roissy - one thing I've noticed is that the accents/speech seem a bit more exaggerated - Eel's southern twang (LOL at pewwwwwn!) and Drinky's slight lisp are definitely more prevalent this time around.

Only halfway through so far - best episode yet, I think.

Eel's assertion that you should be "self-deprecating" with women struck me as dangerous, though.  That only makes it easier for them to reject you ("he knows he's not attractive so he'll understand if I go fuck this guy with a truck").  Either that or they'd place you into the "funny friend that I have" category.

Plus I think the format of the podcast makes you seem more youthful -- it's like you are the precocious youngster gettin' life lessons from Granpa Doug.  It's been good to have a couple segments in your own areas of expertise (internet dating, celebrities in comics) too though.

Good job.  You guys have really great radio voices.

The people at GAF should allow a link to the podcast.  A lot of Gaffers would love the borecast.  It's like a 1up podcast with more intelligence and interesting topics.

Title: Re: borecast episode 3, dirtbags: now with more stuff you love and hate
Post by: Human Snorenado on February 16, 2009, 04:58:58 PM
Well, he wasn't actually a part of any Preacher-centric story, but his stand-up was featured pretty extensively in a flashback.  I think it counts!

I have to say, you guys are getting this thing down.  Good stuff and I liked the dynamic of a 3rd person.  Patel's voice was pretty much how I heard it in my head.

this is the best episode we've done imo, and we're only going to get better

do us a favor and drop the borecast link - www.borecast.com on any forums or whatever you guys might frequent

add us as a friend on facebook, the profile name is Borecast Doug Kevin

submit us to digg or delicious or whatever

i've submitted to around 75 different RSS feed directories, but it hasn't been hitting on much download-wise

i can't make anyone listen, but it is a good show and i'd like to get it out there more, and short of spending money i'm willing to whore wherever it takes, so if anyone has any suggestions lemme know

i'm even considering a myspace page  :-\

My thoughts:

Part One: Good.  Very good.  Despite a lot of the outrage that a lot of you guys had for Roissy, there was too much agreement or at least a "yeah, well..."  It just seemed inconsistent.

Part Two: I might have to check into that.  I love free shit, regardless of financial situation.

Part Three: Eh, not a fan.  Not because of you guys but because the topic frankly did not interest me

Part Four: LOL

Overall, I think it is an improvement.  The material overall is getting better and better, it is getting presented better, and Vestal seems to be a good addition to the show.  Best episode yet.  Good jon, guys.

Great podcast guys, I just got around to listening to it. You could hear Prole's spirit rise whenever he spoke about kinky shit, so I have to think that he has some first hand experience. That would be a great talking point for a future podcast

I'd like to reiterate my Kierkegaard request.  Is there a bug tracking database for this?

You have to read Diary of a Seducer in preparation, remember.  Preferably along with at least a couple of other essays from Either/Or pt. 1.  It's a pretty fun read, don't worry.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Either/Or

Quote
Either/Or portrays two life views, one consciously hedonistic, the other based on ethical duty and responsibility. Each life view is written and represented by a fictional pseudonymous author, the prose of the work depending on the life view being discussed. For example, the aesthetic life view is written in short essay form, with poetic imagery and allusions, discussing aesthetic topics such as music, seduction, drama, and beauty. The ethical life view is written as two long letters, with a more argumentative and restrained prose, discussing moral responsibility, critical reflection, and marriage.[1] The views of the book are not neatly summarized, but are expressed as lived experiences embodied by the pseudonymous authors. The book's central concern is the primal question asked by Aristotle, "How should we live?"[2]

Volume 1 is the hedonistic part.  It's pretty entertaining, you might never suspect the author is actually a religious nut.

Patel= Andrew?
Andrew Vestal by any chance? Because I fucking called it on GAF around the time Jackfrost was banned and synthesizer patel showed up. Unless Its a different Andrew.

edit: just read the thread. Its funny, I should see if I can dig up the posts where he denies it.

Great podcast, guys.  Finally had some time to give all the episodes a listen.  You guys are naturals.  Doug's observant, sarcastic, and witty personality is very well suited for good radio.

It was mentioned in passing, I believe. No real talk on it, though.
