Quote
Providing Achievements for non-gaming uses of your Xbox 360 (e.g., “The Film Buff: You’ve watched 50 DVD’s”)

Will be interesting to see how this goes, and how soon Sony has non-gaming trophies.

So Gamerscore for games.

Actually, that list is pretty much chock full of lame ideas.  But I like the first one in particular - tracking progress toward achievements.

i still remember the root beer tapper achievements. for some reason if someone has gone to a lot of effort to make creative achievements im more likely to try to get them

(l) is the most distinguished mentally-challenged as it's basically an achievement for getting the game early and topping the leaderbaords with your shitty results.

And I already don't like multiplayer achievements so I think party achievements would suck too.

(e) and (g) would be OK though.

It says "within the game environment". I don't see what's wrong with having a visual cue within the game itself, like getting the statues in the Rocket Slime games, or fossils in Animal Crossing...

Or the Bobbleheads in Fallout 3, although you had to get 10 and all 20 to get achievements, but it was still cool seeing them on their display stand at my pad in Megaton.

a, e, f, g are all cool.
b and c are fine too.

Personally, I like the achievements that make you play a game in a different way.
There was so much bitching on the achievement sites about R-Type making you play in a game that is counter-prodcutive, but what is the fucking point in playing through R-Type exactly the same way every single time. Duh.

Yea, I thought those were awesome.

If they are thinking of writing "you have unlocked this achievement" on a wall or billboard, F is fucking distinguished mentally-challenged.
