Title: What [Non-Gaming] Blogs Do You Read?
Post by: Cheebs on December 04, 2006, 01:06:34 PM
I am curious if any EB'ers read blogs. Personally I am addicted to political ones. I read

Daily Kos (http://www.dailykos.com/)
MyDD (http://mydd.com/)
Redstate (http://redstate.com/)
Political Wire (http://www.politicalwire.com/)
The Hotline (http://hotlineblog.nationaljournal.com/)
Political Insider (http://politicalinsider.com/)

I also read some trashy celeb gossip ones  :-\

I read all sorts of musicblogs: Stereogum, Scissorkick, Cocaine Blunts, Idolator, 3hive, Soul Sides, Ear Wax, etc. etc.

I'm starting a musicblog next year, with an end-of-2006 Podcast to kick it off!  :burgerking

I usually read the conservative blogs, just because dipshits like Atrios cherrypick the issues they comment on. Look, if the Republicans are slinging mud, TELL US WHAT IS UP YOU CLOSED-MINDED "CAN'T WE ALL GET ALONG" HIPPIES -- I hate getting blindsided by conservative friends/family with issues and arguments I didn't even know about. Hence, I read Instapundit and LGF, and I often scan the Free Republic forums for a few gut-wrenching laughs-cum-sobs.

I scan Atrios and Kos for big ticket libby items, and I read Crooks and Liars for the lulz. Same for Media Matters.

I read a couple developer blogs regularly as well for DX10 and .NET 3.0 updates.

I sometimes check out some far left and far right ones just to see the different (and many times hypocritial) reactions to stuff

I like reading redstate lately even though I am far from conservative. I like paying attention to the '08 GOP primary from the inside rather than watching  liberals(including myself) discuss how much they hate post-2000 McCain.

Just some of my friend's blogs, really.  Mostly kids that moved to NYC and that's how I keep up with them.

I generally find Open Thread (http://atrios.blogspot.com/) a total wanker (he's a "can't we all just get along hippie??"), but lately he's been posting worthwhile reads.  I find it both sad and telling, your suggestion that you tailor your reading to learn what talking points are going to be used against you though.  ;)

He is a crazy over the top conservative fool. I'd put him in the camp of Rush, O'Rielly, & Hannity. He wrote a book called "Liberalism Is a Mental Disorder"

Some things from him:
Oh, there’s a billion of them (Muslims).' I said, 'So, kill 100 million of them'

In 2004, Savage described radical Islamic fundamentalist Arabs as "non-humans" and "racist, fascist bigots" and advocated a nuclear attack on a "major Arab capital".

Critics point out his various controversial statements, such as calling for the arrest of liberal activists, and quashing violent protests with force.

Savage is FAR worse than Hannity, Rush, and O'Reilly. I wouldn't even put O'Reilly on any of their levels though. I can listen to O'Reilly and agree with him on many things. The dude holds some rather liberal views

I love Savage just because of how out there he is.  I don't buy into it, you'd have to be distinguished mentally-challenged to.  I bought Liberalism is a Mental Disorder because it's hilarious.  I just love listening to the guy.  Half the time he just talks about his dog "Teddy"  WTF??  The guy just makes me laugh.

Aren't radical Islamic fundamentalists accurately labeled, "racist, fascist bigots?"

Gotta make these places fun.  "What did you eat for lunch today?" threads don't do it for me. Save that time-killer conversation for the office or school. Bring on the interactive theatrics!

I was very interested in politics from the age of around thirteen, but I have had little interest in politics of late. For the last three years I have been fairly apolitical. So I do not have a great deal of interest in visiting political blogs of any stripe.

More in the sense that that's what politics and debate are reduced to, and the fact that the internet has become a factory for talking point (and counter-point) distribution...

No, I usually have my own opinion well-formulated -- I just need to know WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON before, say, my DAD blindsides me with HOW COME DAN RATHER QUIT AFTER THEM EDITED DOCUMENTS since Atrios and the other libby sites so commonly ignore any news item that isn't of a favorable slant for Democratic outrage?
