Japan only. They also redid Bonk for PS2/GC.

I have the Adventure Island remake for the GC, but the Bonk one is a lot harder to find.

Looks like it's still strictly sidescrolling but yikes at the animation and music. If they were going to go with the crummy 2.5d route they might as well have ported the GC/PS2 remake instead. Comparing both videos, the animation on that one looks way better.

I don't understand why they are obessed with remaking AI 1 over and over. AI 2 and 3 were far superior.

Because a lot of companies don't care about the quality of the game, just its marketing potential.

Adventure Island 4 was pretty awesome too, had a bit of Metroidvania action going on, but it never came to the US (I think it was one of the last Famicom games). This remake, well like Mox said, I don't get why they keep remaking AI1 over and over... It's still probably more fun than most of the Wii's library though.
