Title: Quick "Killzone" Cryengine 2 mod.

Not a flamewar thread.  Some duder had 24 hours free and made this mod.  It's interesting to me how flexible the engine is with the lighting and particles looking close to the Killzone style.

Once all the assets and scripting are finished, it's definitely worth playing for admiring the visuals but the guy shouldn't try to make a whole game in this style since that's too much effort.

As I said in the Outside Link thread, I'd really like to play this. Great atmosphere, and Crysis is awesome, so a mix should be hot. I think he should drop the KZ angle though, and just do his own thing. I mean, it doesn't actually look anything like that trailer.

eh, he's obviously doing it for fun.  He's early into it but the fact that he already replicated the general pallet makes it interesting to see how detailed he tries to make it.

What has he replicated? It's dusty, other than that I'm not seeing the similarity. It looks more like a dusk level in GRAW than anything.

The particle effects and the lighting already look pretty similar but he only set up a general framework so far.  It's just impressive to me how much micromanaging a project like this could take if he gets into recreating every little detail.

Right, but he hasn't recreated anything yet. It looks nothing like it. He has, however, made a nice looking level, and I think he's honestly selling it short by presenting it this way.

I agree, he shouldn't be drawing these comparisons as it looks nothing like Killzone.  It's still a beautiful map, however.

I'm not so sure one guy could recreate such a scene anyways as what makes Killzone 2 (both the fake trailer and the actual game) so impressive is the animation.  It would require a ton of time and effort to pull off something like that.

I hate this mod because it's taking away some of the hype from Killzone 2. :maf
