Honestly it comes down to TWO of five or so titles in the series.
Burnout 3 vs Burnout Revenge.
I picked up Burnout Revenge for the PS2 today, but ive always been a big fan of Burnout 3. Burnout Legends for the PSP was more like Burnout 2 IMO. I think Burnout 3 was better than 2. The demo for Revenge always gave me that OMG EVEN MORE EXTREME vibe but I am not entirely sure that will be my favorite direction the series has taken.
any fans of the first one? lol

Burnout 3 ftw. Sparks!
-
Legends was good, but burnout revenge is my fave.
-
Have only played 1-3. I'd have to give the nod to 3, but 2 was really fucking great too. I wish they kept the burnout system of the first two. I might pick up Revenge some time down the road because I only rented 3 for a long while I had my friend's Xbox. Now I have a PS2, so I should upgrade from my Gamecube version of 2.
-
takedown was cool. i liked revenge as well.
i like the 360 one cause of the xbl mode but the forumula is getting pretty stale now. hopefully they jazz it up for true next gen.
-
3 and 2
-
most overrated series ever
*shrug*
-
most overrated, really?
its much better then all the other slow racers out.
-
I consider Burnout Revenge the best arcade racer ever made. The track designs alone elevated it well beyond Burnout 3 IMO.
I think the 360 version of the game is a must own for the system. The online play is amazing, and the rivals system is innovative genius. :D
I cannot wait for the new Burnout coming next year. It will easily be one of my most anticipated games of the year.
-
Burnout needs the Dukes of Hazard car.
-
MAF, this is gonna end up like Soul Calibur 3...I'm going to buy Burnout Revenge very soon. :-*
-
Haha but you hated SC 3 :(
Honestly tho for 20 bux revenge is a STEAL

Nah, I started to like it. I just haven't played it in a long while. And I don't have anyone to play it with really. That was the main reason for my coldness towards it. :'(
-
I play fighters along 80% of the time. I never have to worry about getting better than the AI cause I play too many other games.
Revenge is a lot of fun tho.

I seem to be in the minority, but I enjoy both Burnout 3 and Revenge. They really are very different kinds of games. Burnout 3 is still kind of a racing game whereas Revenge is basically car pornography.
My preferred rev of Burnout 3 is Burnout Legends on PSP, btw. The graphics may take a hit, but I'll be damned if the game isn't made for portables.

Too bad the PSP's screen couldn't keep up with the game's speed. Not to mention the PSP version was kinda glitchy, and the graphics are downgraded to the point of it being a downer.
In other words, the console versions smoke the PSP version IMO. :lol

Well, fact is, I think you're pretty distinguished mentally-challenged.
It's a decent portable port, and I found that for Burnout 3's mechanics, portable was more pleasing than console, even if it meant a graphical downgrade.

Jeff Spicoli.

I think tiger was talking about the DS version of Burnout Legends lol. What a piece of shit that was.
-
I remember a few GAF Ninthings deranged enough to claim they actually LIKED Burnout Legends DS, or at least preferred it over the PSP version.
-
figures, I love my DS but thats stupid talk
-

No, I was not talking about the DS version. I just try and pretend that version doesn't even exist.
I just wasn't that impressed with the PSP version of Burnout Legends. I love the series as a whole, but the game was just too fast for the PSP screen's horribly slow refresh rate. Not to mention the goofy analog stick.
In general I look at the entire PSP as pretty much a failure, and thats why I sold mine a few months back along with all my games. I used that credit to pay for my Wii in full, and I don't regret it one bit. :D
I've sold consoles in the past, and occasionally i've felt some regret a month or two later. Well, it's been over 3 months since saying goodbye to my PSP, and I haven't thought about that thing once since that day. It's just been an utter failure IMO. Too much for the market to handle, and publishers didn't give a shit about it anyway, and still don't IMO.
There were a few awesome games on it, and they were Ridge Racer, Hot Shots Golf, Daxter, and maybe Lumines.

That's a pretty good troll!

You should know! :rofl
Seriously though, I really don't troll. I just give my honest opinion. If thats a troll, then oh well. I never intentionally try and piss people off.
-
It was a COMPLIMENT! JUST TAKE IT!
-
I played the first Burnout a few years ago on PS2.. please tell me the game has improved because Burnout 1 sucked really bad.
-
dude, how can enjoying the Wii NOT be a troll
-
BlackMage, Burnout has evolved significantly since the original. Get Revenge and experience stimulation to your pleasure centers of the sort you haven't felt since Uncle Murf fingered you out behind the smoketent.

Do it. Drinky's right. The first was generic arcade racing with mediocre crashes and a cool boost system (I thought). Then the second one just did it a lot better and had crash mode too, which was awesome. The third one changed the boost system to the same stuff that you see in almost every other game (which I didn't like) but improved on everything else once again. I can't speak for Revenge.
-
You should buy revenge :)
Once I banned shake I played it for hours last night :D

I keep telling trying to force myself through my backlog. I don't think I'm ever going to beat Megaman ZX. I can't even find Area J. WTF this map shit blows.
I also need to finish up Ninja Gaiden Black so I can give my friend his Xbox back. He'll probably just leave it in the backpack though. :lol
Then I need to pick the DMC collection too.
PS2 is too awesome.
-
ive got a huge backlog but fuk it in for a penny in for a pound RITE??!?!? *sob*
