Title: If I have Steam, is GFWL necessary?
Post by: BlackMage on February 25, 2009, 02:44:13 PM
I don't want 2 fucking programs that do the same thing on my computer, but does GFWL have any worthy exclusives now or in the future that warrants a download?

DoW2 forces you to have both installed at the sametime. GFWL is fucking distinguished mentally-challenged as shit. I want steam and thats it.

Well, at least for DOW2, GFWL appears to be something that exists only within the game itself, and not an outside program that needs to run in your system tray or whatever.

Right.  GFWL is something that only exists within the game.  For those who also own a 360, it's a nice little addition as it ties your PC games into your 360 gamertag and keeps you connected on that platform (friends wise).

It's actually kind of shitty if you also have a 360, since if you pause a netflix stream to go play a round of DOW2, it logs you out of Xbox, and then of course Netflix as well.

Wtf?

Yeah a friend of mine has a problem with this.  If he's logged into DoW2 then someone uses his xbox (he's got roomates) it logs him out of DoW2.  Easy solution is create a new live account just for DoW2 but still, it sucks.  :maf
