See, that's how you're supposed to use LBP. It's a shame the user created level section of LBP is large polluted by shit levels based on some isolated "interesting" feature.
-
yeah, I saw this trailer earlier and thought it was pretty cool. I'll try it out eventually, but I just know that some parts are going to be annoying as hell unless they added a good amount of checkpoints.
-
Looks pretty awesome, but seems a little slow or floaty or something. It's been a long time since playing the original and I haven't touched LBP yet so I could be full of shit. Great effort though.
LPB is kind of floaty, so that's just the way it's going to be. Unless there's something in the editor where you can change that sort of thing.
Looks pretty awesome.
-
Some of my favorite LBP levels are extremely simple looking but insanely fun to play, since the design revolves around gameplay rather than look.
What the hell is this, Wiiner central? :wag
-
Looks like shit. Grow up, distinguished mentally-challenged fellow.
-
I can't wait until SCEA pulls this down like they did all the SMB levels and GAF explodes in bitching.
Then they'll go back to sucking off Jaffe as normal.
-
Looks amazing! :o

One of the biggest problems with LBP. This wouldn't be happening if it was on the PC.
-
It's impressive, but I'm not sure what the point is... the original would still play better.
I suppose it's a neat tribute though. Maybe a less exacting tribute that's actually designed around the funky/shitty LBP control mechanics would be more fun.

This is awesome and all, but at the same time, what's the point? Why spend $59.99 and hours and hours of time and effort into recreating something you can already play on the NES, emulated, or on a dozen different collections?

bububububu It's on the PS3!
-
um yeah I can appreciate the effort but I would rather just play Contra FFS
and I didnt realise LBP was so floaty and shit, what a shit game
-
EB is just so cool
-
It's cute.
-
Yeah, it does look awesome. The guy who said EB could do better blindfolded with one hand tied behind its back is wrong.
The only problem is that it's made with LBP. The floaty physics and the stupid plane switching ruin a lot of the fun.
-
I've gotta buy LBP sometime soon. I rented it a while back and really enjoyed it but there were only a few really good user-created levels out at the time.
-
Excellent, cant be the 'Bore without some LPB trolling :lol

I'm sorry that having an opinion isn't a bannable offense here like it is on GAF

Whos trolling LBP?
demi (as per usual), scenester and some subtle ones.

Lay down the weapons
It just always funny to see (including most wii threads here) :lol

You know that the majority of people on GAF think the same as EB does about the Wii, even if they can't say so.

I would believe that but they are not always willing to take that risk so its kinda boring.

I've played LBP, I'm allowed to troll it
Check my Trophies if you don't believe me

Honest question....since when you started to make some effort to get psn trophies?
I thought you didn't give a shit.
-
You don't talk to demi about achievements and trophies.
You just don't.

tried this out
looks cool, but pretty annoying to play.
-
That sounds a lot like most user created levels that I've tried out.
-

Yup, totally with you on that... really disappointing the game has these flaws, since I really wanted to like this game.
-
LPB is great conceptually but it's really not a lot of fun when playing it. I haven't tried the GAF Contra mod but after seeing that video I almost feel that I don't have to 'cause I'm sure I'll have the same reaction to that as I've had with just about every other level in LPB - eh. LPB makes one hell of an editor though, I'll give it that.
-
Even though I'm fine with the floaty physics and plane switching, the only reason they do ruin the game is because so few user created levels make their levels around them. The end of the first Contra level is a good example of this; if you don't stand on the middle platform, you can't hit the target, even if it seems like it should work on either the bottom or top platforms. I'm not saying it's all user created levels because some I've played are very good, and sometimes this is when they decide to restrict everything to a single plane. I still think the actual story mode levels (and official MGS levels) are really, really good and I never had plane or physics problems with those levels. The creator is simple if you want to go in and mess around with things, but if you want to design a good level, it is really hard.
Something like the Far Cry 2 map creator, or the N+ one, or even Forge are much more simple to mess around with since you don't need to worry about the mechanics on how to make the level work. If you even watch one of the MM done guides on how to create a simple one way switch, it seems so complicated, and that's just to keep a door open.
-
LBP is pretty fun, but it's the kind of game that seems only good in quick 30-minute sessions, i usually just put the game in the ps3, play through a few created levels. And just stop. It never keeps my interest for that long, when i'm playing solo at least. Because the multi-player is pretty awesome with family and friends.
And as people have said before, the level creation seems so needlessly complicated, considering i haft to go through dozens of tutorials, before i can even start making a actual level. :-\
-
Looks great. I wish I had waited a bit to sell the game. I think it's on sale somewhere for $20-25 new
-
I was watching some vids of user-created levels on youtube - people come up with some pretty amazing things.
-
have you seen the Dead Space one? the level itself isn't interesting to play, but whoever made it nailed the atmosphere for his level.
-
that's the one. Very boring level outside of the amazing presentation.
-
That Dead Space one looks awesome. Kind of like a stage play based on Dead Space.
