Call to Arms Live Expansion Schedule

    * Call to Arms: Bitter Rivals Live Event (March): Successful completion of the live event allows head start access to the new Orc Choppa and Dwarf Slayer careers. The event will also introduces a new Chaos-themed RvR Scenario, Twisting Tower. TODAY
    * The Orc Choppa and Dwarf Slayer answer the Call to Arms and join WAR! (March) NEXT WEEK
    * Call to Arms: Beyond the Sands Live Event (April): The promise of great riches and powerful weapons comes from the south.
    * Call to Arms: Rise of the Tomb Kings Live Event (May): The race between Order and Destruction begins to unlock the Land of the Dead for their Realm.
    * Land of the Dead Opens (June): The deserts of Nehekhara open to players with the addition of a new RvR-gated dungeon zone. To gain access to the Land of the Dead, opposing Realms must battle for control of the zone to access dozens of new Public Quests, instanced lairs, and a massive new Tomb Kings dungeon to plunder in search of the Casket of Souls.

Can it save the downward spiral of servers becoming barren wastelands?

EA blew it. I was following this game since 2006 and never even bought it.

Apparently they're still wondering why 500,000 subscriptions vanished around November 18th.

Yea, releasing that type of games slightly before LK was a horrible decision. Honestly, creating fantasy based mmos is a bad decision in general due to WoW

Someone should come up with a good, huge fantasy MMO with a different business model. Extremely low sub price, or free time I dunno.

Game will be fine, but I can't see it supporting an operation the size of Mythic for super-long. It's life is destined to live out like something like EQ2, a specialized good game that later became pretty great (so I hear) after a bit of a rocky first reception.

Mythic itself probably will continue to exist as a vastly paired down entity to continue management of UO/DAoC (both still have subscribers) and providing new WAR content. EA will look to somewhere else for their next big MMO.

The difference is that Mythic isn't SOE and they don't have the multiple revenue streams for WAR/DAOC/UO that SOE uses these days.

EQ and EQ2 make more off their digital trading card sales than they do subscriptions.

I was mildly interested in Warhammer, then I found out there's no trial. What's up with that shit?

RESTRICTED ACCESS

The Warhammer Online trial on FilePlanet is available to Australia,
Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, and U.S. residents only.

You in Europe? EA doesn't handle it there. It's put out by Gouge Up the Ass over there.

I live in the United States. I'm even in the God Damn founders club.

Well they also have a recruit a friend program just like WoW has.

So I started playing it today and, it doesn't seem like my kind of thing. I was always under the impression that Warhammer was going to be a constant PvP type deal but I'm basically just doing "go here and get this" quests. I do however like that these quests are easy and don't make you kill 8 creatures to get one item.

Oh and the UI isn't great either. I really prefer how WoW does things.

Doesn't help that the game runs like shit. That's what Mythic gets for using middleware to make their MMO.

It's one thing to use a middleware engine DESIGNED with MMOs in mind; Bioware is using the Heroe's Journey engine for STOR.

But Mythic has been using Gamebryo since DAOC, and it's time they hire some engine coders.

I didn't even mind how the game runs, it just isn't exciting to play. I have no clue why but I expected the game to be non-stop hardcore PvP didn't get it so I'm not going to drop this for WoW.

It is non-stop hardcore PVP...at level 40.

Since everyone is 40 now, leveling a character is boring as shit with no RVR at lower levels.
