Title: quick resume question
Post by: xnikki118x on March 05, 2009, 04:05:26 PM
Hi guys!

I'm tailoring my current resume to try to get myself a job as a TSS worker. [It's the LAST thing I wanted to do, but I'm desperate. And maybe I'll be good at it!]

I'm including a cover letter, obviously. Because I have a cover letter, do I need an "Objective" heading on my resume?

As it stands, the top part of mr resume (under all my information) is

Objective

To obtain a position as a Therapeutic Support Staff with Organization X.

Is that really necessary? It'll free up some space if I can eliminate it. I'm hoping I can eliminate it, but I'll find a way around it if I need to leave it there.

Thanks so much! :)

ALSO! Do I really need "References will be made available upon request."? Do people still use that? It seems so redundant.

Make sure to spray some perfume on it before sending it away.

I don't think it's really required.  At least, I didn't put the Objective thing on mine when I did it.  I'd say you'll be alright.

At the interview, emphasize you are good with your hands, and kind of swish your hair to the side. They will get the idea.

If you're applying for a TSS position with Organisation X, it does seem pretty redundant.

I'm not sure how things work in the US but I'd put all reference details on the resume so it's as easy as possible for the potential employer to contact them.  No point making their life harder when you're the one trying to get the job.

Thanks to those of you who helped. :) I actually found a way to fit it all.

I'm just tailoring my cover letter, and then I'll send it all off!

Yeah I dont know why you'd pub objective. Seems redundant unless you're like a graduate or something spamming employers.

I usually just put my references in there as Bildi said. People look for easy ways to eliminate resumes and not having your references on there could be a way of doing that. It really can't hurt.

You should thank demi more than the rest.
