not really a fan of the graphical style, but gameplay looks pretty promising

Honestly, I want to love a Batman game, but they're pitching this as GTA-Arkham-minus-cars -- how can that be good?
-
I never really got what the concept was until that video but it looks fucking amazing. It's basically an RPG that kinda seems like Bioshock where you need to use brains more than brawn but in this case, it's too sneak around. The graphical style looks really nice imo and hopefully they find somebody besides Bale for the voice work but that might be wishing for too much.

What the fuck? Just cause it's a sandbox game it's a GTA spinoff?
-
There's no way they'll get Bale for the voicework, is there? There are so many other, better, cheaper, Batman voices. Those guys from TAS or JLA or... Superfriends.
-
Kevin Conroy (from TAS) is doing Batman and Hamill is doing the Joker

Just because it is a sandbox game it is assumed it is better than GTA
-
Even if this game sucks, i still will probably buy it for the story and to hear MARK HAMILL as the joker again.
This looks promising though, but i'm not a fan of the art-style. :-\

It's been, and only has been, pitched as something similar to Bioshock or Riddick; never were any comparisons to GTA made.

if you watch the trailer, i don't see how anyone could think this is anything like GTA
-
Yeah, it actually looks fun.
-
Wait this is a sandbox game? But I thought it takes place just in Arkham? You can't do a proper sandbox batman game unless you can explore all of gotham and use batman vehicles!
-
Arkham is an entire island, not just the prison. It plays for a better game environment, trying to do this with Gothmam is a pretty hefty goal. Maybe the sequel could tackle it.
-
I dont think this game is a sandbox one
-
I think the sandbox stuff is having some ability to tackle which villain you want in an order of your choosing, and likely some side-game stuff -- less like GTA and more like Assassin's Creed?

So Mega Man was a sandbox game?
-
I'm pretty sure you couldnt choose your kill in AC either.
-
You did have to kill specific people in AC but the order you killed them in and what information you discovered was up to you. I think that there will be a lot of sub-bosses in this game too.
-
Thanks, yeah... that's what I meant. Researching the assassination target also got strands filled in the DNA/RNA/Thing-NA, filling in other parts of the story, and revealing the most efficient means of whacking the guy.
Hopefully there will be more than 4 types of gameplay in Batman. AC was really lacking in breadth of gameplay, and in terms of sense-of-place it was rare to feel like I knew an area inside-out, unlike San Andreas or even the endless rolling grey-brown hills of Mercenaries (1).
