Ross Douthat, Privilege, bottom of p. 184:
One successful foray ended on the guest bed of a high school friend's parents, with a girl who resembled a chunkier Reese Witherspoon drunkenly masticating my neck and cheeks. It had taken some time to reach this point--"Do most Harvard guys take so long to get what they want?" she had asked, pushing her tongue into my mouth. I wasn't sure what to say, but then I wasn't sure this was what I wanted. My throat was dry from too much vodka, and her breasts, spilling out of pink pajamas, threatened my ability to. I was supposed to be excited, but I was bored and somewhat disgusted with myself, with her, with the whole business... and then whatever residual enthusiasm I felt for the venture dissipated, with shocking speed, as she nibbled at my ear and whispered--"You know, I'm on the pill..."
Seriously, wtf. College guy not eager for sex from reese witherspoon-alike (and identified in detial, as Brad Delong points out, to humiliate her), and then (again, as a college student engaging in a trist of casual sex) turned OFF by birth control. Note that college guy saught out casual sex beforehand to get to this point, so it's not like he's morally awesome woawesome.
What the hell, totally awesome. The NYT got a real bonafide self-loathing young conservative homosexual to replace Kristol. Awesome, more of this kind of stuff in your columns please Ross (without the odious public humiliation).

I've read some of his stuff from The Atlantic. He's ok. Well for a conservative.

drunkenly masticating
:drool
-
Haven't read his stuff-not enough flight time with 2G2D to read the Atlantic like I used to.
-
Douthat will at least attempt to have an intelligent argument with someone, as opposed to Kristol and his ilk. Needless to say I don't respect his opinions but I will grudgingly give him the fact that he attempts to use some form of logic to support himself.
They should have given the column to Andrew Sullivan, tho- it would have pissed off sd.

They should have given the column to Andrew Sullivan, tho- it would have pissed off sd.
Sullivan is barely a conservative now. He sucks Obama's cock these days.

He and John Cole had what I like to call a moment of clarity.

yeah, sully's been sucking hopium since he realized that a) his audience is full of nutbar baptists; and b) his audience will recall his homo-ness the moment he strays from the script. why play to the crowd that will stone you in the courtyard for a seat in heaven?

He's been rather critical of Obama's economic stances, but overall he's utterly disgusted with the GOP/conservative movement
-
Everyone's been critical of Obama on economics. That's what happens when your economic team is the same one that got us into this mess in the first place.
As for Sully, Sarah Palin broke his little cognitive dissonance bubble and made him realize that the heart of modern conservatism wasn't led by the nice group of beltway bloggers and paleoconservative gtown cocktail parties he thought it was. It was dumb, it was mean, and it was Southern.

I read his blog off and on, he is critical of a lot of Obama's economic policies but still seems to have a hard-on for him and gets giggly over the more "showy" aspect of Obama and rambles about how level-head and smart he is.

did anyone else read this as Ross Douchehat

You mean his name is NOT Ross Douchehat?
