Title: MGS Touch
Post by: dcharlie on March 18, 2009, 10:33:14 PM
It is "bad touch"

i wasn't expecting the worlds greatest game, i was however expecting something a little more than flash shooter par average.

DO NOT touch this at $7.99 / 3.49 GBP.

I could let it slide at around the $2 mark, but $7.99 is taking the piss for what it is.

Kojima tax total.

I wanted to try out that cellphone game, but it won't run on my cellphone.  Whatever, I have the best cellphone version of Metal Gear with a 2D version of AC!D.  I used to play it a lot last year until I got hooked on Tetris Mania, and in recent months, Peggle and Puzzle Quest.  My cellphone > iPhone.

It's actually a decent MGS1 port from what I've seen.

yeah, this really is just the flash game made much easier.  I will say that the aiming is really damn good and I sorta wasn't expecting that based on the videos.  Makes me want the PSP2 to have a touch pad instead of a second analog stick for a similar effect, only without requiring you to slide your finger over the screen.

true, the game is very basic -- it's definitely for the mindless fun crowd. $8 is way too much, i agree. but strangely, i kinda dig it.

I knew MGS Touch was going to be bad.  MGS + cellphone....how could it not be?

I'm still trying to find a game on the iPhone that's any good.  I like Fieldrunners well enough and I had some fun with Virtual Villagers 2 but I'm looking for something to get the bad taste of Oregon Trail out of my mouth.  Anyone have any suggestions?

:O is it actually good?

It's definitely a solid time waster, although from what you said about MGS Touch, probably not worth it for you. It's definitely entertaining though, and the "duck and cover" mechanic transfers over pretty well to the iPhone.

I like Tetris.  That's still the only app store game I've ever purchased.

In-character OLD SCHOOL real Oregon Trail collaborative fanfic, that goes completely off the fucking rails about halfway through. Kind of long, but totally worth reading.

I, too, was hurt by iPhone "Oregon Trail," rebalanced for Nintendo fans. Reading about a REAL MAN playing REAL OREGON TRAIL reminded me how awesome the game was and will be forever :bow2

it's super pish easy

"supplies" bar instead of specific wheels, axels, tongues

you can't choose to hunt, it happens automatically when you need food

you can fish and gather berries to get food as well as hunt

if someone gets sick, just rest for a few days and they get better

you can pan for gold (in a fun minigame!) to get more money after you start

farmers eat food more slowly and carpenters' wagons break down more slowly. WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SHIT. The most important lesson of the Oregon Trail is "damn it feels good to be a banksta." The correct answer to "what advantage does choosing a poor starting class give me?" is NOTHING!!

it has cute graphics but even the hard mode is fucking easy, I wish it had a "real" mode unlocked when you beat it that added some of the old-school hardcoreness.

dcharlie read that Let's Play so that there is someone else on the board who understand the majesty of SUSAN, wrathful God of pioneer housewives. I spent like 20 minutes today trying to find a pioneer woman action figure I could use as a base to mod into SUSAN

:bow SUSAN :bow2
