Title: Hmm, Should I play Metal Gear Acid

I have to go to America for like...a month, and I don't know how much Internet I will get, so I need to bring some PSP/DS games.

So taking all this shit into account:

-I liked MGS1
-I loved the VR Missions
-I kinda liked MGS2
-I liked MGS3 when I skipped the cutscenes
-MGS4 Bleaugh
-Ghost Babel is the best Metal Gear ever IMHO
-I like Metal Gear POOPS

Would I enjoy any of the Acid games? I hear the first one has hella bad translation to the point where it affects gameplay. Can I safely skip the first one and go onto number two with its rockin cell shaded look?

It's nothing like your regular MGS game.  It's basically Yu Gi Oh with Solid Snake.  I'm sure you know that, but still.

I don't see why not.  I never played the first game and I skipped all the cutscenes in Acid 2 and had no problem with the game.

skip 1 and play 2

the stories aren't connected, and even if they were they're garbage anyway

and the acid games are basically card-based, turn-based strategy games with an MGS theme to it (more focus on stealth, usual weapons, etc.)  Not the normal MGS gameplay.

I'd recommend you don't play it.  I played some of the first one and it takes forever to really do anything. It takes maybe half an hour to clear one room.  The card-based gameplay just didn't work in the MGS scenario imo.

yeah you can go ahead and skip Acid 1 on the PSP, but I highly recommend picking it up for your mobile phone (they did some sort of cut-down port) if you can; it's a great time-waster!

I'm not into ANY strategy games, but even I think Ac!d 2 is am fuck awesome and played a decent chunk of it.  If you can get the original dirt cheap, you might want to check it out, but just about everyone will tell you to skip it and go right to Ac!d 2.  Ac!d 2's graphics and sound are also really well done.  I wish Portable Ops had been done in the same style.

And jesus rice man, no or limited internet for a month??   :o

I've tried the Ac!d series and I can't wrap my head around how it works, and lack the patience to try. If you haven't played it already, Jeanne Darc is the best game on the sytem imo
