Title: Are you a member of the Militia?
Post by: Ganhyun on March 23, 2009, 03:47:16 PM
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/first100days/2009/03/23/fusion-centers-expand-criteria-identify-militia-members/

Quote
If you're an anti-abortion activist, or if you display political paraphernalia supporting a third-party candidate or a certain Republican member of Congress, if you possess subversive literature, you very well might be a member of a domestic paramilitary group.

Quote
People who supported former third-party presidential candidates like Texas Rep. Ron Paul, Chuck Baldwin and former Georgia Rep. Bob Barr are cited in the report, in addition to anti-abortion activists and conspiracy theorists who believe the United States, Mexico and Canada will someday form a North American Union.

"Militia members most commonly associate with 3rd party political groups," the report reads. "It is not uncommon for militia members to display Constitutional Party, Campaign for Liberty or Libertarian material."

Quote
Other potential signals of militia involvement, according to the report, are possession of the Gagsden "Don't Tread on Me" flag or the widely available anti-income tax film "America: Freedom to Fascism."

Well, I guess I'm a member of the Militia.

After all, everyone here knows my views on abortion.

If believing the constitution should be upheld makes me a miltia, then so be it.

I think Fox news viewers are the militia and they should be careful. The hatred they are spewing is getting dangerous.

ACLU officials blasted a Texas fusion center last month for distributing a "Prevention Awareness Bulletin" that called on law enforcement officers to report activities of local lobbying groups, Muslim civil rights organizations and anti-war protest groups.

This does bring up a good point about how useless the second amendment is these days.  The only "active" militia is probably the meatheads that sit in the desert looking for any border-crossers.

I know the intention of the founding fathers doesn't matter since they were really hypocritical but it is funny how fast the second amendment in the constitution became obsolete.

they aren't saying that the ron paul nutters are ALL in a militia; just that they often match the profile of a militia crazy. i don't disagree with that at all. correlation doesn't indicate causation, here; just that correlation is surprisingly frequent when it comes to guns and a hatred of government.

Sounds like somebody is profiling...

nothing wrong with profiling unto itself; it's only a problem when race is used without a demonstrable correlation

So let me get this straight.

Profiling based on political ideology: OK
Profiling based on skin color: Not okay

We still have secret ballots in this country right? I bet homos on the left want that to be abolished too.

Oddly enough I think Truimph would be the first guy to join a militia if shit hit the fan.

Little known facts:

-I own four guns.  All legally.
-I almost made Eagle Scout as a lad.  Got disinterested when I started getting some poontang around 17 or so.
-My family owns a bunch of land in the Blue Ridge mountains that we jokingly refer to as "our end of the world compound".  It's got plenty of fresh water springs, etc etc.
-On the minus side, I'm a lifelong vegetarian so I suppose that I'd have to get used to eating the flesh of my fellow man quickly.

I remembered the guns part, though you know have validated my theory.

extreme political ideologues: own guns, hate the government, organize.
black people: may or may not own guns, may or may not hate the government, may or may not organize

please look up "correlation" in the dictionary

 :bow :bow2

Nothing wrong with the "P" word when used properly.  Criminal profiling is integral to police work.  Racial profiling independent of other factors is what is reprehensible.

I know the intention of the founding fathers doesn't matter since they were really hypocritical but it is funny how fast the second amendment in the constitution became obsolete.
God damn you are so fucking stupid. lol
Well first the founding fathers didn't follow the "intent" of the constitution in their private lives (slaves, censorship, etc.) so it's just plain wrong to use what they believed in their personal lives as a basis for how the constitution should be interpreted.

Second, do you think that if the largest democratic institutions can be corrupted, that average joe minuteman can really do fair and balanced reform?  Every other country just uses the ballot box when they're dissatisfied with the government.
