Zelda: Ocarina of Time coming to the Wii
Remake of the old N64 classic in the works
Apparently Nintendo is not done with the cool announcements. After announcing The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks last Wednesday at GDC, it seems like the Japanese firm has another huge announcement to make this week.
Late last night, our Japanese contact over at Nintendo sent us word about something really exciting: a Wii remake of the one of the greatest N64 games ever produced: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. We were also told that an official announcement would be made around April 5, which is the North American launch of the Nintendo DSi.
While the whole announcement made us really excited, announcing the game alongside the launch of the DSi made us ask ourselves one question that went unanswered: Is it going to have some kind of DSi inter-connectivity?
Mark your calendars people and get ready for probably one of the most cool announcements of the year.

While Wii certainly isn't a powerhouse, it still would be adequate enough to at the very least eliminate the game's biggest flaws, mainly the graphics and having few enemies on Hyrule Field. Having done that, the female haters will have nothing else to complain about and be destroyed for all eternity. And whatever is left TO complain about will amount to the equivalent of "Obama uses teleprompters too much!! :'( :'("

I bet they don't spruce up the graphics, just add waggle.
...that is, if this is even real.
-
Wasn't TP basically a thematic remake?
-
:piss Remakes :piss2

Day 1, vociferously and with laudations the same

Even if all they did was add waggle?
-
We need more PS1, N64, Saturn era remakes. Most of those games are severly handicapped by antiquated 3d tech. I would love a remake of Panzer Dragoon Saga, Sega Ages style.
-
darn, and i just sold my wii, too
-
what?

Just rebuy when its 100 bucks. You can then get the best games for cheap too. That strategy worked well for the Gamecube.
-
I'll believe it when I see it.

Yeah, if they added just waggle, even I wouldn't buy it. And I'm the bore's no. 1 2 OoT cigarillo.

Doesn't the term ''remake'' connote enhanced graphics and such. I'm thinking of REMake, for example, or remakes in film. Otherwise, wouldn't it be considered a re-release?

"Enhanced" (to some, anyway) controls would certainly qualify.

They need to overhaul the graphics, use that Twilight Princess engine or what not.
They need to do this because I've never played Ocarina of Time, and I can't very well go back and play it now and have the proper perspective to enjoy it the way you people did in 1998 or whenever it came out.
CATER TO ME, NINTENDO.

finally a reason to buy a Wii

Why remake a game with the same graphics?
Even by Nintendo standards this is some low shit, remaking a game that defined a generation like this.
Did they remake it for the cube? No, they just ported it. I see no reason for them to stray from this formula.
You guys are seriously forgetting the fact that Nintendo loves making money off of old properties with minimal effort? Do you need the metric fuck ton of evidence from the past 5-6 years?

the cube port was just a free bonus disk for preorderring wind waker though

This game is not good enough to finish it a second time, and paying full price for it again is lol.
-
Why would anyone want an ocarina of time remake
-
OoT was never a good game. Sorry, Prole.
-
April Fools in two days...
Maybe if it was overhead 2d I could buy it. Maybe if the overworld was more involved. Maybe if they removed lock-on in place of ir targetting. Maybe if iron boots were toggled on a button. I dunno, hope its an april fools joke. DSI= tingle tuner 2? That was actually nifty connectivity there. OH YES INCLUDE TINGLE hmmmmm
-
I certainly hope not, but with how Nintendo has been acting lately, I wouldn't put it past them.
Cheap waggle fests and ports = new Nintendo
-
Can't wait for Reggie to spin this disaster as another game for nintendo to appease the hardcore.

YOU were never a good game, TVC! :maf

Why the hell do you guys believe this rumor?
-
Brave Fencer Musashi was the best game released in November 98.
-
So Nintendo is milking not just their franchises, but their actual previous-gen catalog, Square Enix can't stop making Final Fantasy spin-offs, Capcom in continuing business as usual, Koei continues to make indistinguishable Dynasty Warriors games.
Maybe its just the whole Japanese side of the industry that's effected, reheated leftovers seems to be more prominent then ever from those guys.

I know you don't like the game, but wasn't that mainly due to the technical limitations, 15 fps, blurry textures and whatnot? If those things are no longer an issue, what would be the problem?

Aren't those all fixed in Master Quest or whatever the GC reissue was? At the time, in 1998, I found the game boring and BFM much more enjoyable and fun. I haven't played OoT since GC.

I believe the frame rate was improved and it was modified for 480p, but for this, I'm assuming a full blown remake with Wii tech, instead of just tweaking the N64 assets.

If they were going to do a full blown remake, why not just make a new Zelda game? They are all basically the same thing anyway.

I'm pretty sure it's just Oblivion who does.

Nah, I'm just dickin around. Maybe I'd be more inclined to believe if it wasn't so close to April Fool's.

Ocarina of Time was awesome. :rock
