Shamelessly stolen from GAF, but this is a pretty awesome list.
http://the-minusworld.com/2009/03/30/the-top-9-video-game-ocd-moments-you-know-youre-guilty-of/ (http://the-minusworld.com/2009/03/30/the-top-9-video-game-ocd-moments-you-know-youre-guilty-of/)
What are you guilty of?
I was guilty on 9 until I realized they were all worthless.
I'm pretty much guilty of 6-1 though.
-
7-4, absolutely
-
7,6,2 and 1 for me.
Also, I click on every box/barrel in RPG's regardless of whether the developers of that title hide anything in them. Just in case.
-
2, 5, 6, 7.
They should have made it like a top 20 list or something. Nearly every big game has something stupid that I obsess over.
-
#7 is really a form of cheating, though.
-
who didnt do number one? Its pretty much a requirement for any megaman game
-
1, 3, 4 and 5.
-
uh, none
-
uh, none
loser
-
:(
-
all of them except 3
who the hell sings "sega" when that logo comes up? I've never seen or heard of that before.
actually, one better than catching the wand in SMB3 is doing a backflip into the boss orb in Rondo of Blood. That was tough.
-
Only #1, but I pass through doors while suspended in mid-air in real life too.
Regarding #4, I would often let the wand fall and then fuck around for an obnoxiously long period of time before picking it up, especially if other people were watching.
-
Guilty of 9 and 4-1, fer shure.
-
i obsessively save while playing bethesda games
i had nearly 100 oblivion saves, and around 60 fallout 3 saves
-
9, 7, 5, 4, 1.
4 and 1 in particular. I've actually been trying to curb my saves over the years, which is ironic now that consoles have the storage capabilities to support a hojillion saves.
-
i obsessively save while playing bethesda games
i had nearly 100 oblivion saves, and around 60 fallout 3 saves
:shh I had about 180 fallout 3 saves.
-
I think I have over 100 Chinatown Wars saves :lol
-
I have over 200 fallout 3 saves
-
yeah I had a shitload of fallout 3 saves as well
-
anyone who doesn't do 1 is highly suspect as an individual
-
I think I do all of those except for the multiple save thing. For whatever reason, I usually just have one or two.
-
It's because you're an honest person.
-
I get up to maybe a 100 saves per file when playing an "open-world" RPG but I don't keep 100 different save files. That type of habit would actually fill up a good portion of the hard drive.
-
I do them except I don't sing SEGA, and while I pick up lots of stuff in Fallout I don't pick up useless things like forks.
I did collect all the flower pots I could find in Oblivion and arranged them around my house in Skingrad. It looked lovely.

#9: Picking Up Every Single Item In Fallout 3
Nope.
#8: Organizing Your Animal Crossing Furniture
Who the fuck plays Animal Crossing?!?
#7: Meticulously Juggling Dozens Of Save Files For One Game
I used to do this, but then realized I'll never go back to those previous save states.
#6: Shooting A Few Bullets From Your Clip Before You Pick Up A New Clip In A FPS
Guilty.
#5: Repeatedly Shooting The Door In A Metroid Prime Game Even Though You Know It Will Load Eventually Anyway
Nope.
#4: Timing Your Jump After A Super Mario Bros. 3 Boss To Catch The Wand Perfectly Mid-Air
Yep!
#3: Audibly Singing “SEGAAAA” When A Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog Game Booted Up And The Sega Logo Flashed
I don't think I've ever audibly done it, but my wife does.
#2: Picking Up Every Item In A Legend of Zelda Game Even Though You Already Maxed Out What You Can Carry
Nope.
#1: Jumping As You Enter A Boss Door In A Mega Man Game
Hell yes!!!
-
I deliberately avoid making multiple saves to stave off the temptation to nitpick my every action. With a few exceptions, point-of-no-return crap, new save = new game.
-
I get a little worried about corrupted saves, I've had it happen a couple of times. Just doing one save would be pretty tense for me.
-
1 & 4 definitely. I like jumping.
-
#6
That's it.
-
Who the fuck plays Animal Crossing?!?
You could probably slide in "The Sims" and it would still be applicable.
-
Just #1 and #5.
edit: Fuck I do sing "SaayGaaahhh"
-
Your honor, I plead guilty as charged to counts #3,#6, and #7. :-[
-
9: Did this for a while, till I found out most of it was useless
4: So awesome, I would always do this
3: Yes, but its been like a decade since I've heard the superior jingle on the Genesis
1: That too, sort of like the Mario timed jump
-
most of these are distinguished mentally-challenged but i do #7 especially in bethesda games
-
i obsessively save while playing bethesda games
i had nearly 100 oblivion saves, and around 60 fallout 3 saves
:shh I had about 180 fallout 3 saves.
lmfao ::)
try 400+ fallout 3 saves (i havent even beat the main story yet) and god knows how many oblivion saves
-
5, 6, 7, 8, 9
never played Megaman or SMB3, crazy huh. Saying SEGA? WTF?
I might be guilty of 2 but I blocked out all memories of ever playing a POS Zelda game
-
I just sing to the Daytona song. How can you not? I ask of you, how can you not?
and yes, I've been a wand catcher, ruby hoarder, and save file filler.
-
8, 6 (:(), 5, 4, 1
-
5, 6, 7, 8, 9
never played Megaman or SMB3, crazy huh. Saying SEGA? WTF?

Seriously? Download a NES emulator with Megaman 2, 3 and SMB3 NOW!!!
-
I'm guilty of 1-7. :lol
-
Guilty of all of those except for #4 and #8 (though i might've done something like that in a orther game.). :)
-
Regarding the save games, when you guys say 180 saves, you mean 180 SEPERATE ones or 180 in total, on the same file?
under the same character/file
funny thing is, i never go back to any of them, i just do it out of habit i guess
or to show a friend a cool part of the game
-
yeah, I had a bunch of saves with Oblivion that I never went back to. The problem is when quick saves don't stack and replace each other. Fallout 3 had this and in my 60+ hours with the game I only have about 3 saves plus the quick save.
-
Showing a friend a cool part of the game is a legitimate use of multiple saves, though.
-
Jumping into boss doors in Mega Man is one of my favourite things ever.
-
#1, 5, 6 for me
-
They have Mega Man on the list but would it be so hard to mention Fallout 1 or 2? Pathologically rooting though strangers dressers is the name of the game.
The list also needed to mention hoarding your 'nades, Potions of Frost Giant Strength, and P-Wings and never using them.
-
Always needing a full clip, jumping like an idiot in MegaMan...other stuff not listed
Obeying traffic laws in racing/open-world games
Spinning all the time in Mario Galaxy, even when I didn't have to
Using walking speed in atmospheric games/FPS in an attempt to make the game more lifelike
:(I'm not cool.
-
I'm an Ninthing or whathaveyou.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=14970490&postcount=33
Actually, I'm just really poor.
-
I think people I know would be pissed if I showed them parts of the game they havent been yet.
Most of the friends I show don't really play games, they just want to see the neat stuff that happens
-
What about shooting NPCs in Half-life just for fun? I"m sure many people did that.
-
nailed it with 9 and 1
i'm surprised they didn't mention stock-piling potions in rpgs
