Some pretty hot sex here.
Just bought a 8710w, so I'm out of the game. Half wishing I'd just bought a netbook though.

Foot race between my disbursement arriving and this deal ending.

We won't see Ion netbooks until about midway through 2009, and when we do they're going to cost a bit more than other netbooks—"within $50" of standard netbook pricing, since Nvidia is positioning them as "premium" netbooks, whatever the hell that means. And this still doesn't help netbooks' other serious shortcomings, like multitasking or crummy keyboards.
Nvidia calls its new platform—Atom + GeForce 9400M (the same chipset as the aluminum MacBooks—Ion. Performance-wise, Nvidia is promising 5x faster graphics and 10x faster video transcoding than a standard Atom-powered netbook running on Intel's current platform. The Call of Duty thing, I still want to see before I totally believe it, but they promised 25-30s running at 1024x768 resolution.
That's awesome!! I wonder if the inevitably worse battery life is going to kill the purpose, though.
Diablo 3 on a netbook (if possible) would probably be the best thing on Earth.

Do you know how much power it consumes? That's definitely something I would get just to browse, play music and play Crawl Stone Soup... would save me from using my 500w beast.

i'm finally jumping on board when the ion chip sets are released :bow2

according to nvidia, just a bit more than current netbooks

Noiceeeee
Am I reading the online specs right? The larger Acer Netbook is rated at 11.8 Watts?!
-
Errrr, wait what? I thought HP Mini systems were definite "No buy" since the keyboards suck...
-
I think the keyboard on the early ones did....but that one has a really nice keyboard. I played around with it at Best Buy and almost preferred it to my NC10, which is saying alot.
