HP 8710w

Got it for a steal, probably the best build quality of anything I've owned.

It came witha a Nvidia Quadro rather than a Geforce...still trying to wrap my head around what I need to do to make it game optimal.

AMD X64 4000 2.4Ghz
Asus old motherboard
2 gigs DDR1 ram
XTX Geforce 9800GTX+ Black Edition
750W OCZ power supply
640gig WD hard drive
230gig WD hard drive
120gig WD hard drive (c:, XP Service Pack 3)
Wireless trackball mouse that is awesome and old as hell
Wireless logitech keyboard that kind of sucks, but I need wireless kb since I game on my tv-out

Yeah, it's a bit of a Frankenstein until I pony up $500-600 and get a new cpu/motherboard/ram later this month.  Should probably throw out the 120gig drive and just do a new boot install on the 230gig (I don't like having my boot drive on my big hard drive where I keep all my software).

Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz (stock speeds due to heat issues)
Asus P6T x58 motherboard
6gb Corsair XMS3 DDR3-1333
Lian Li A05NB Case
EVGA Nvidia GTX 260

Everything is running great - Core i7 is a fast sumbitch but it gets awful damned hot in the Lian Li case....gotta cut out some blow holes later on this week as soon as the grill cover and fans show up.

My laptop here is:

C2D T7500 2.2Ghz
GeForce 8400m gs (one of the flawed ones, f u nvidia) 1280x800
2 gigs of ram
140 or 160 gig HD.  I ferget.

This machine is getting retired soon.  It's my m1330.  I love it but it's getting long in the tooth.  Also, the slash key busted off which makes it a pain to use and I'd rather pay 2 grand for a new laptop than 20 bucks to send my old one away and get it repaired.

i have a fuckload of machines, but my primaries are

desktop:

C2D E6850 @ 3.0 Ghz
Radeon 4870 w/ 512 MB GDDR5
4 GB RAM
2x 80 GB 10K RPM Seagate drives, RAID 0; 1x 300 GB 7200 RPM drive

laptop:

C2D P8400 @ 2.26 GHz
GeForce 9800M GS w/ 512MB GDDR3
4 GB RAM
1x 320 GB 7200 RPM HD

i have an older E6600 desktop with SLI'd 8800GTXes and a kilowatt rail that i retired on account of its power consumption (and its ghastly beige ubercase) and the fact that i do most of my gaming on my laptop these days. my wife has a p8400 laptop w/ a 9600M GS that she uses to play titan quest, and i also have a dell mini 9 netbook.

Laptop

1.6 GHz Celeron M
512 MB RAM
60 GB HDD
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator

Bought this for $400 at Best Buy around three years ago.  It is getting a little slower in age but I think it can last at least another year, if not two more years.  DVD burner also but it never burns a disc properly.

damn, an i7? when did you get it

Week before last.  I mentioned in the what did you buy thread that the only reason I went ahead and spent the money was out of fear of being poor in a few months from leaving my job.  I figured it was best to get it now than need it later.  Need being a subjective term of course.

dell off the shelf with a new power supply

e4500 @ 2.20ghz
4 gig ram
160 gb internal
500 gb external
1tb external.  (it's incredible when a tenth of this is MST3K episodes)
8800 GT

I want to upgrade somewhere because I'd like to be able to tackle next years games w/o a loss of quality, but don't know if i should upgrade the entire machine or just the video card.

Even when choosing the slowest speed?

Doing that tends to help.

MacBook 2.4ghz core 2 duo with 4gb RAM.

Going back to school and thinking about getting a PC desktop, or building my own for the first time.

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11469113&cm_mmc=BCEmail_400-_-FOCUS-_-31-_-SonyVaioT8100

This was suggested to me, but I take it that it's an over-priced Sony machine?  Don't care about Blu-Ray for one thing, would be nice to be able to play a few games (SF4 and Diablo III) too I guess.
