Title: Do you pronounce the umlauts in heavy metal band names?

I always want to, though I'm not sure how in the case of Spın̈al Tap.

I think you say the sound with your lips rounded as though you're whistling--something like that.

Unless an umlaut is different from an amulet in which case-no idea.  I think (?)
