Title: Is Two Worlds worth playing for the sake of laughter?
Post by: BobFromPikeCreek on April 20, 2009, 07:18:52 PM
The voice acting and goofy character models/animation make the game look hilarious. How painful is the actual gameplay?

The actual gameplay isn't too bad since the combat is simple and moves at a good pace, easily the high-point of the game. Unlike Gothic 3, it rarely gets in the way or makes playing the game frustrating.

The main problem with that portion of the game is that getting killed only results in you being transported to the nearest resurrection stone, with all items and experience intact. They also heal you, so you can draw a horde of strong monsters to one and kill all of them while being continually healed.

As someone who beat it twice

Yes, it's a good game. Better than Oblivion, even.

It had a wide array of glaring flaws that range from the technical side to the gameplay, yet it somehow manages to be a fun time-waster that you can easily sink 30-40 hours into.

If you were like me and didn't like the dialogue or plot and skipped quickly through the conversation, then saved after you made the choice, you'll have to start the entire game over again. Once you make the bottom choice you will fight him (and he can be killed very quickly with simple attacks) you will get the good ending and the achievement.

Missable != Glitched

you'd have to be a distinguished mentally-challenged fellow to go through 25-30hrs and skip the ending and miss it.

There WERE a few glitched achievements, but they got patched. Unfortunately, they required you play a new game, so I didnt bother

I'm having a really good time with this game... totally unexpected. When you turn the grass and shadows off the game runs fine, and it's actually pretty enjoyable.

This thread is making me regret not picking it up for $3.75 a few weeks back. I wonder if it's still there.

I love how your guy has all kinds of snarky/sarcastic remarks.

"Looks like it's raining...AGAIN."

And my personal favorite:

"Reminds me of my in-laws."

When he comes across a group of orcs.  :lol

I jumped in some water and he exclaimed "I am wet!"

This game is awesome. Seriously. It is much greater than the sum of its parts. Game got screwed on reviews.

For some reason the dragon killing achievement is glitched for me. I've killed like 4 and it won't unlock, but the stone golem one unlocked immediately after I killed one.

Good to hear. Can't wait for sequel.
