I'm starting a music blog with my friend at the beginning of 2007! To kick it off, I was going to make a podcast of my favorite songs of 2006. I want to make it like a radio broadcast, with me announcing, some fake commericals, shout-outs, etc. etc.
Now, if I was making a mix CD, I would turn the MP3s into wavs and edit everything together with Cool Edit. But since this is a podcast, I want to splice all the MP3s and voices together without having to lose quality from converting from MP3 to wav back to MP3 again.
Any suggestions, as far as software to use (if necessary) or anything?

GarageBand + Mac seems to be the preferred podcast combo of choice for the really good ones. My favorite podcast in terms of production quality and general interest is The Sounds in my Head (http://www.thesoundsinmyhead.com/). Just as a point of reference.

Any suggestions for a PC user? I really want to get a mac next year but right now it's not in the cards for old Corny

From what I've heard, PC users primarily use Audacity (http://www.download.com/Audacity/3000-2170_4-10058117.html) to handle podcast creation.

Keep us updated Corny, I'd like to read your take on music after having been a music store clerk/manager for most of the past 10 years.
