Title: Monster Hunter 3 demo
Post by: cool breeze on April 23, 2009, 02:13:43 AM
it's Monster Hunter and still fun.  Wii controls are crap, loading time aren't too hot and graphics are alright.

The key I read had sparingly uses of waggle. So I don't see what the problem is.

I wish the camera was ir controlled though.

Loading is 2-3 seconds between zones. Impatient much?

supports the classic controller, and the load times are a shitload better than on psp (playing without cfw) IMO. Only wii game i give a shit about, can't wait.

Yeah, the loading between zones isn't too bad, just a bit inconsistent.  Keep in mind that I'm playing this on a hard drive that even speeds up load times.

The use of motion controls here is just to replace digital motion.  The one confusing part was that they didn't have aiming with ranged characters on IR; seems like it would have made sense.  It's no big deal since I will play with my gamecube or classic controller when it actually comes out, I was just too lazy to grab them for now.

(it's alright to post this, right? it's just the demo)

you need a homebrew Wii with USB Loader

I don't much care for classic con, but I'm curious about the issues you have with the nunchuck setup.

Essentially, the only waggle is used for unsheathing and it reads the tilt like NMH while doing A combos.  Sounds ah'ight.  Whats the problem?

What type of character did you play as? the use of it changes between the different weapons.

And it was mostly the camera controls and button command placement/usage that were awkward.  Camera is still better than doing the pinch with the PSP, but obviously not as good as a dual analog setup.

No, I don't have access to the demo.  I'm just worried that a hypothetical U.S. release is going to require a classic con, which I don't care for.  I'm kind of sad they're pushing it so heavily.  Like you said there's some obvious IR implementations they neglected because of designing around the classic controller.

I'm just waiting for the U.S. release of 2G on PSP.

-Game looks nice for the Wii.  The waterfalls and stuff are good art direction.
-Controls with classic controller are fine
-Loading is near instant if you play off the hard drive

This is my first monster hunter.  How do you kill the boss enemies?  I hit the dino a ton of times and then it just runs to the next area and then I go there and the same thing happens???

Do you have to kill him before he escapes to the next screen?  I was using a heavy sword guy and I was too slow to keep up with the dino.

Saw some videos and this looks cool. I never gave the PSP versions a chance.

he is still hurt even if he moves to a different screen.  I'm pretty sure I saw him limping around right before I killed him.
