Reading this older article, it makes the NBC coverage seem to be more in perspective.
But, lets go even further shall we?

At the GE (who owns NBC) shareholder meeting, several shareholders who were critical of MSNBC were cutoff while asking their questions.
One of the shareholders works for Fox News. His mike was cutoff as well.
Here's an O'Reilly clip where this was talked about.
http://www.foxnews.com/video2/video08.html?maven_referralObject=4554841&maven_referralPlaylistId=&sRevUrl=http://www.foxnews.com/
I love how the crowd, which according to the news article(and heard on the video clip), applauded questions that were critical of MSNBC and booed Immelt's replies.
Also:
First up was a woman asking about a reported meeting in which CEO Jeff Immelt and NBC Uni CEO Jeff Zucker supposedly told top CNBC executives and talent to be less critical of President Obama and his policies.
Immelt acknowledged a meeting took place but said no one at CNBC was told what to say or not to say about politics.

so guy sneaks in, tries to start shit, is denied.
wife tries to start shit, is also denied.
i think we need to take this all the way to the top
the shinehart wig company must be confronted

lol, what?
No its guy who owns shares and works for Fox News is critical of MSNBC, gets mic cut off. Another guy's wife is critical, gets her mic cut off. Others who disagree and have NO affiliation with either or Fox get cut off.
-
It's funny that MSNBC is guilty of some of the same charges the left attacks fox for though. Maybe they should attack MSNBC it might help their ratings go up, it seems to help fox.
That woman's comment about the tea parties was a joke too. I guess she prefers protesters breaking windows and throwing animal blood on people. ::)
If GE ends up being paid for political support, legal charges should be made. Enough handouts!
-
NBC would be stupid to change the pro-liberal style of MSNBC.
MSNBC was dead last before this, now they beat CNN.

oh well then i dunno what to say to that, other than private companies doing what they want.
-
NBC doesn't want to take any shit on one of its most profitable divisions, more at 11

So you have no problem with NBC being so Pro-Liberal, right? If thats so, then why have so much hate for Fox News for going the other way?
-
Outside of the editorial staff I don't see how MSNBC is anything like Fox News. And their editorial staff targets a much more educated demographic and is more fact-based. They also have Scarborough and Matthews - who are their counterparts on Fox?
Fox had one "liberal" on their network for a while and when he retired they didn't even bother replacing him :lol
edit: oh wait, The Ed Show is a piece of shit. However, not batshit insane and hateful like Beck.

When did I ever say Fox should stop being conservative? I don't like them, think they are full of insane freaks but I never said their business decision was a "wrong" one. They go after a audience that brings them in $$$? More power to them. I don't care, I don't like them but I don't feel some sort of passion to make them stop. It's their thing, not my problem.
And AV is right, MSNBC is only liberal in their primetime shows. Daytime is nothing like that. It's straight then. Fox's daytime is very conservative. Only Shep Smith is a real reporter.

3 hours of Morning Joe
2 hours of Olbermann/Maddow
Clearly MSNBC is the modern Pravda

MSNBC's prime time had Ed Schulz, he is openly liberal.
Matthews doesn't fit the mold though, he is clearly a democrat but he is far more interested in rambling about history and dc inside gossip nonsense than ever discussing liberal ideals.
-
American news is so fucked up.
-
This is the same MSNBC that fired Bill Donahue, who had their top rated show, in the run-up to the war because he was too liberal.
These complaints and this thread are so fucking distinguished mentally-challenged.
-
NBC has a HIDDEN LIBRUL AGENDA. THEY WANT TO BRAINWASH US INTO SOCIALISTS.

that was awhile ago. MSNBC is the liberal FOX, and now we have proof they've been paid :drudge

Watching MSNBC is more painful than sticking your dick in a jar of honey and FHUTA'ing a hornet nest.
-
People criticize Obama? THAT'S RACIST
-
Watching MSNBC is more painful than sticking your dick in a jar of honey and FHUTA'ing a hornet nest.
Olbermann is annoying as hell but Maddow is solid. She is not comparable to the likes of Hannity. She has tons of conservative guests on. Conservative senators, governors...etc.
Megan McCain says Maddow's show is one of the best on cable news. :o
-
Note: Some might ask why the FDIC, still a part of the Bush administration, would reward an Obama-backing network. But Pinkerton suggested that the FDIC has its eyes on the prospects of who will next be in power.
okayyyyy

Watching Hannity is just as painful. He has a prick accent and voice that I can't stand. And yes Olbermann is annoying as fuck too. But I'm not a big TV guy in general, I prefer a good book to TV/movies any day.
-
I cant stand Olbermann. His show is about trashing fox news and having liberal opinion makers tell him how awesome he is.
-
But Olbermann isn't annoying in the 'get the viewers riled up against the president and everything he does is shit' kind of annoying.
-
Olbermann sucks. I'll give you that. I'll stick with news online aggregrators like Google News and online papers like the NYTimes and the WSJ.
-
But Olbermann isn't annoying in the 'get the viewers riled up against the president and everything he does is shit' kind of annoying.
Yeah, but he still isn't my cup of tea. I prefer internet news but if I watch cable news I rather see the nonpartisan journalists like Howard Fineman and that ilk talking whats going on than opinion makers.
-
why is this even a topic
-
why is this even a topic
because the conservatives are finally able to find the glee in attacking a TRULY liberal media
-
FOX = CRAP = MSNBC
The only network anywhere near objective is ABC. <3 Tapper and the George Steph show.
-

I agree with that. Steph's show has replaced Meet the Press for me. And Tapper is a solid independent reporter.
-
I think Olbermann's entertaining. *shrug*
At least he lets his guests actually speak.
-
because he only invites guests who agree with him
-
Olbermann is a wanker, just like the Fox News pundits. If you can't see that, you're an idiot.
There's a difference between a wanker and a lying wanker.
-

Which is why if I am going to watch a liberal opinion show I'll watch Maddow. She gets on republican senators and pat buchanan all the time. When do you see Buchanan on Keith? Never.
-
Olbermann's the new Juno; I don't even like him but you guys are going to make me defend him on the internetz.
Yes, he's a blowhard and his Special Comments feel really manufactured. He mostly preaches to the choir and runs outrage-of-the-day kind of stuff. He could very well turn off some people who'd potentially be on his side.
But we've got a big, noisy political discourse in this country. There's room for different styles and levels of sophistication and a successful political movement is going to have to engage on all of them. It'd be nice if we could sit down and nerd it up, but does anyone think we'd get even a teensy bit closer to that if Olbermann went off the air?
His outrage seems phony, but haven't most of his subjects been outrageous? Ridiculing people doesn't bring them together, but aren't his targets ridiculous? What good does it do us to accord them respect?
I don't think anything he's done touches the current Glenn Beck crazy-train, or O'Reilly's stalker antics or the War on Christmas stuff. Olbermann's an ass, but he's not on their level. For that matter, he does less harm to the nation than David Brooks or George Will, who have the veneer of dignity.
PS This is the post I should have written about Al Franken, except that I like Franken way more than Olbermann. RLIABFI's recurring theme was about truth and fact-checking. For his image as a far lefty, Franken's mostly been a voice for data over ideology. I think Willco was giving him a totally bum rap.
-
We may disagree over Keith but Franken is awesome. I don't get why PD hates him so much.
-

Eh no one gets a pass in this. Stupidity in discourse is harmful to the truth and should be tolerated just as much as lying.
It's ok to hate them both, I really don't care, but false equivalency is bullshit and the ultimate in laziness.
-
When will the collective Media own up for using "expert" Generals sent from the Pentagon who's objective was to sell us into the War?
-
I don't think Olbermann is worse than say Beck, who is actually dangerous, but his handling of his subject is stupid and masturbatory and should be thought of as such. I'm just sick of this lighthearted defense of idiot liberal pundits that seems to think that any attack on them is wrongheaded beacause, hey, the right does worse.
Agreed

Cohen: Dude, "just like the Fox News pundits" was in your first post in the thread.
If you don't want people excusing liberal transgressions with "they did worse" (fair enough, I guess), you can't open with the comparison yourself.
Also (and I'm not saying this is what you actually mean) it's hard for me not to read your criticism of Olbermann as one of tone. When I see someone get called "shrill" I reflexively think about Paul Krugman's criticisms being handwaved (http://delong.typepad.com/sdj/wherefore_shrillblog.html) earlier this decade for being too strident.
I just don't see Olbermann as being as damaging as someone who carried water for Bush, no matter how polite they were or how much of a jackass he is. Not annoying, but actually harmful.
That said, I've never watched more than three minutes of Countdown and I half-expect someone to post Youtubes of Keith saying terrible, indefensible things and make me take it all back.

So I take a long time writing posts! It's glandular!
