Title: Do you guys know any habitual liars?

Damn, people who are always lying are a pain to deal with.  They're pretty easy to spot, but you don't want to bring awkwardness to the conversation by catching them in their lies. 

It's even worst when you're forced to deal to them, either through work or some other situation.

I know a guy that will just on-the-spot come up with outrageous stories about himself and tell them to complete strangers for no reason. He doesn't really do that with people he knows, though.

My aunt, well she dead now, but when she was livin, geez.

She lied her way into a marriage, she lied her way into being a doctor for a couple of months, civil engineer, and a professor once. Really fucked up.

These people aren't the guys you need to be worried about. It's the guys that can meld truth and fiction so craftily that they become indistiguishable are the guys that you have to worry about. They usually end up working in marketing or HR.

What happened was, she would first tell somebody what she did for a living, and she would answer based on how good she wanted to look according to the status of the other person.

The doctor thing, she showed up at the hospital one day, and started acting like a doctor, she took the white thingy with her, and she was there for two whole months, everybody thought she was a doctor, like she knew everybody, other doctors and shit. Then rumor started flying and she bounced.

I don't know how people didn't caught up to it earlier, i guess nobody gave a shit back then.

As a Civil Engineer, she passed as one for her "now" husband, i guess her Widower, and the guy basically married to her not knowing what she did for a living, + she was pregnant from this other dude, and she said it was his.

The professor thing, was basically, she just gave classes at this kids school, with a false certificate or something, she was there for a whole year. They never figured it out, she bounced clean.

Very troubled woman. Tough childhood anyway, father was a "ladies man", and messed with the money of important people in Lisbon, had to take the whole family into exile up north in Porto, and despite making lots of money, he would waste the whole lot in gambling and womens and shit. His older son(my uncle), was the same as he but without the talent to make money, because he's a dumb shit with a gambling problem, although i pity him when i see him, my aunt basically took care of my father when they were little, she put him through school, and took care of the middle brother (my father was the youngest), which become mentally disabled when he got thrown a rock at the head when he was little, and in some ironic way she was the reason why my father completely fell far from the three, and is the only of the brothers to not be involved in some borderline dubious shit, heh.

Anyway, true story.

When I was little, there were two particularly notorious ones.  Just made up anything to make themselves look cooler, occasionally telling some damaging lies that split friends up.  One guy ended up dropping out of school and supposedly got hooked to hard drugs...last time I talked to him, he told me he shot up $50,000 into his arm and had sex with every girl in his dorm.  Both were probably big lies. On the other hand, it was well known that he had been into heroin and he is fucked in the head, so that part is possible (over the course of a long time...)   The other kid, who would also lie about doing drugs (but did not actually do much else than pot and mushrooms), ended up working in politics.

There ya go, druggies and politicians!

I also think this person I work with is a pathological liar or is at least lying heavily to cover up some shame/keep her job.  She's just one of those people that always seems stressed out and always has a whirlwind of really strange drama surrounding her.  Then when she misses work or has some strange event happening to make her visibly pre-occupied, she goes way out of her way to tell me about it (I work directly with her and purposely don't go past the surface with her.)  The stories are barely comprehensible and full of holes.  Then there have been some odd occurrences in the office (which I can't get into) since she started working that never happened before. She makes me pretty nervous and I kinda hope she leaves/gets fired soon.  Just seems like bad news. :\
