Microsoft has released its second Service Pack for Office 2007 today.
Service Pack 2 includes some significant changes, including built-in ability to save as ODF & PDF formats, improvements to Outlook's performance and calendar reliability and significant bug fixes for charts in core Office applications. It is also a rollup of all fixes that have previously been released for Office 2007 products.
The company has published a support article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953195) detailing the various fixes and improvements contained in the SP2 update. According to the document there are improvements in the following areas, to name but a few:
* Outlook responsiveness
* More reliable Outlook calendar updates
* Search reliability
* RSS improvements in Outlook
* Better .pdf/.xps output fidelity
* Improves the charting mechanism in Excel 2007
* Provides faster file resaves in PowerPoint 2007
Microsoft has also published a full changes list (http://download.microsoft.com/download/C/2/C/C2C36159-600C-4EEA-B80A-F988EE7A418F/2007%20Office%20Service%20Pack%202%20Changes.xlsx) which details all the updates and fixes for SP2.

I definitely prefer 2007, though replacing the file menu with a hieroglyph provided some initial confusion
but then I don't much care for Office in general. gimme a TeX installation and I'm happy. I wish someone would make a nice split WYSIWYG/textual-representation document editor a la VS2008's WPF Designer. Word's Reveal Formatting, Word Perfect's Reveal Codes and LyX don't really cut it.

installed sp2 manually, now for another 114mb via windows update lol.
should have used WU from the start but whatever.

shame it can only save pdf files, i wanted it to open so i can get rid of unnecessary programs.

Euhm, my Excel 2007 already saved to PDF. I've been doing management accounts in PDF for months.

you were prolly using an addon.
