Street Fighter 4 - Kickin' ass with Honda 8)
Plants vs. Zombies - awesome
Defense Grid - just as awesome
-
i keep trying to play stalin vs. martians, and it keeps insisting on sucking, so it appears we are at an impasse
-
Dynasty Warriors 6 because its been years since I've played a Musou and I didn't know which were good. Apparently DW6 is considered to be shit, but I'm enjoying it.
-
Infamous demo, which is :omg
Also, Rainbow Six Vegas 2
-
plants versus zombies - i have beaten adventure mode, all the puzzles and all the minigames, 4 more survival levels to go and i will have the golden sunflower award. Im curious if it grants you anything other than bragging rights.
Dystopia - fun online fps less then 200 people play regularly
-
galactrix - amazing game
-
i am thinking of snagging age of booty fro $5 from impulse
-
SF4- now back on 360, too!
Infamous Demo- Seems pretty good! Sony should think about releasing it for people to try, which will generate interest in potential purchases, rather than restricting it to pre-orders. That makes no sense to me.
Time to play some Death Smiles finally, too.
-
Home
Plants vs Zombies- On stage 3-6. Quite addicting. Love the music.
Street Fighter IV- Almost on G2 rank. Mains for CE are Chun-li, Bison, Gouken, Guile.
Dead Rising/Lost Planet- Slowly chipping away at these bit by bit for the first time. Despite all the hate it gets, I'm really liking Lost Planet.
Fallout 3- Currently trying to figure out what the heck to do with the 3 satellites in the northeast.
PS3 Repair: The Game- Amazingly good game where I box up my dead PS3 to ship to Sony for repairs so that way I can watch the Dog Soldiers bluray I picked up this week.
Work
Henry Hatsworth- Very charming, but jumping in and out of the puzzles happen more often than I would have liked.
TMNT:Hyperstone Heist- Been forever since I've played this. It still feels like a cut/paste job of the arcade games, but still very fun none the less.
SF4- now back on 360, too!
I was skeptical as to wether or not the Lyte Edge that sent me a friend request was you or not.
Time to play some Death Smiles finally, too.

Finally getting into P4 (was burnt out on the formula when it came out...)
SF4
Some of the glut I've bought off of Steam these past few months yet haven't had any time to play. :(
Maybe a bit of WoW.
-
-Fallout 2; Awesome.
-Fallout 3 DLC; ehhhh
-Persona ; Dungeons are getting big and confusing :\
-
Fallout 3
Diablo II
Tales of Vesperia
a lil bit of Banjo nuts
-
annnnnd Defense Grid crashes every time I try to load the 'Focal Point' mission.
:( PC gaming :(
-
In order of time spent recently:
MLB 09: The Show - Started up a pitching career. I just pitched in my first all star(AA) game. :pimp
Peggle XBLA
Civ 4 BTS - I play this daily. Trying different strategies on harder levels.
Gears 2 - on the final stage. I would love for someone to co-op with me on it so I can get it done.
-
Jak 3
-
Grinding to level 30 in Fallout 3
Trying to beat Dishwasher on easy at least. Its a really well crafted action/hack 'em up game in terms of depth and the different combos and strategies you can come up with. A real shame the art sucks :(
And renting a 'mystery game' as detailed in my other thread. Silent Hill is looking likely
-
SO4, DQ5, LBP, and gonna start with the 2 remaining Fallout 3 DLCs I have to beat (The Pitt and Broken Steel).
-
Oh yeah and Im about 20 hours into Persona 3. Is the game meant to really easy? I got stuck on one tricky full-moon boss so next month I went to Tartarus every other night to train. I met beat the deadline for reaching the dead end by two weeks and by the time the next boss rolled around I was way overleveled and wiped the floor with his bitch ass. I figure it'll get a bit harder?

-
I bought Fable II, so I'll probably start that tomorrow.
-
Sonic/Sega Collection on XBox 360. I'm just going through the games to try them out, get the achievement in them. So much talk of how badass the Genesis was and stuff and there's so many 'meh' games on this collection. I think Sega's platformers are completely overrated. I'm going through some of Vectorman and Ristar, and there seems to be zero level design in these things. The whole shit where you get drilled by moving forward from something off screen that just pops up gets kind of old, although Vectorman is pretty cool otherwise.
-
Klonoa Wii
Ape Escape PSP
Magic Ball PSN
-
Started up Crackdown a few days ago...and I'm nearly done. Got everything to level 4 and I'm taking down the last gang. It's awesome but what is there to do after that you kill everything?
-
Actually played quite a bit of Soul Calibur 4 today. I like all the stupid extras, gauges I don't understand, and customization. Makes a pretty boring a fighter a fun one.

Throw dumpsters off of high rises!
-
And climb to the top of the police headquarter.
-
Drive cars off rooftops
-
Jak and Daxter, Monster Hunter Freedom 2, FFCC: Echoes of Time (still)
-
Have a friend throw a car with you in it through rings!

Started playing Three Cards to Midnight, the new casual adventure game by the Tex Murphy guys. Under a Killing Moon was one of my favorite PC games growing up so I'm gonna give this a chance. I wanted to wait until it was on Steam, but I figure the guys need money at this point and they probably get a bigger cut just buying directly from their site, so I gave them $20.
Game seems interesting so far. It's actually less "casual" than I expected, but then I don't think I've ever played a casual game before unless Peggle and Mindsweeper count as "casual gaming", so maybe I just had weird expectations that it would be like Wii Music and have no actual gameplay. It's more like Layton right now with full voice acting and a moodier story.
-
I've been working my way through Dawn of War II and Far Cry 2 on my PC for a while now. FC2 is pretty weird but I enjoy killing time in it well enough and the environment is great. Staying off the roads helps. DoW II kicks ass.
Also been playing through RE5 for the second time, this time in the (super shitty split screen) coop with my girl. Picked PGR4 up again recently too.
I've got a giant backlog of games I've been meaning to play so who knows what will actually get played.
-
I was skeptical as to wether or not the Lyte Edge that sent me a friend request was you or not.
:lol I dunno if anyone noticed, but my gamer tag has changed from "Lyte Edge" to "lyte edge." Made a subtle modification. I got my account back last night!
Time to play some Death Smiles finally, too.
:'(
???
-
Assassin's Creed
-
i just hit 99999 gamerscore so im gonna leave it there cause its so cool.
-
I've stopped playing every other game for Virtual On. So far, I got 102 wins and 150 losses in ranked matches.
-
modded UFO : Extraterrestrials, Plants vs. Zombies, planetfall mod for Civ4 BTS
-
Time to play some Death Smiles finally, too.
:'(
???
Those are tears for the potentially fun looking games that probably won't get released overseas.
-
peggle
-
Playing a little Defense Grid. I kinda want to pick up Plants vs. Zombies too over the weekend.
-
SF4- now back on 360, too!
Infamous Demo- Seems pretty good! Sony should think about releasing it for people to try, which will generate interest in potential purchases, rather than restricting it to pre-orders. That makes no sense to me.
They actually do that but normally a few days before it releases (SCEA) unless SCEE fucks them over an releases it much earlier on their side :lol
On topic: Finally finished ZOE2 (never wanted to end it :'( ), played some Guilty Gear X2 vanilla (its an old version but hey) and some Star Ocean 3 (finally decided to continue)
-
Played Soul Calibur IV for a while. I am unimpressed with the amount of "high level players" who are still on this game-- I won a large majority of the ranked matches I did, beating people more than twice my level, by doing extremely basic shit. I guess the real players are just doing player matches at this point. One idiot sent me some hate mail after I got a perfect on him in the last round. I love being able to send a snappy retort and then blocking communications, further angering said morons as they hurriedly type out a response, only to find that they can't send it. :lol

lol, just made a similar post on gaf. I can't believe some of the players on this game-- 1000+ wins with no skills whatsoever. which makes you wonder not how they got all the wins (everyone sucks), but how they just didn't learn a single thing about the game in the course of getting to where they are. I don't care that much since the input lag is very noticeable in the game and I'm just going for the 100 matches/lvl 20 achievements
-
Haha, the standout match set for me tonight was a player match in a room with three other players. I didn't have a headset plugged in, so I couldn't hear everything, but it seemed to be three huge animu nerds. Nerd A, Nerd B, and SUPER KAWAII OTAKU GIRL with XBL profile reminding you several times that she is indeed "a girl. tee hee!"
SUPER KAWAII OTAKU GIRL seems to be pretty good. She picks her custom characters (based on Sailor Moon, naturally, tee hee!) and wails on the two other nerds. My turn up. I decide to join in the fun and pick a Taki I made in the image of Krauser II from Detroit Metal City. Sadly for them, and perhaps awesome for me, the nerds do not seem to recognize this character. As I proceed to beat down SUPER KAWAII OTAKU GIRL, Nerds A and B are making comments like "YOU'RE SO CRUEL, KRAUSER!"
So Nerd A is up next. He picks The Apprentice and spams the typical shit, gets me one round and taunts at the end of the match. I come back and beat his ass down, then proceed to taunt-cancel over and over again as the other two idiots whine in disgust.
Nerd B is last. I don't remember who he picked; I think it was either Yoshimitsu or Mitsurugi, and again I take down another idiot. This guy is so bad that I'm having fun just messing with him-- I get knocked down and don't get up...just lay on the ground and roll from side to side if he comes close. The other two have no idea what to make of this. I put this guy out of his misery and exit the room as the whining continues. This was hilarious and I wish I could have recorded the matches and the mic banter. :'(

http://armorgames.com/play/3527/gemcraft-chapter-0 is another sweet tower defense game
-
http://www.kongregate.com/games/ArmorGames/crush-the-castle
So awesome.
:bow
Took me about 20-30 minutes to finish. But once I started playing, I didn't want it to end.
-
I'm gonna play some Mythic Brawl on Halo 3 to try to get the last two FFA achievements
I'm also doing some Gears 2 achievements and supposedly playing Lode Runner, Banjo Tooie, and Burnout Paradise
-
Got Prince of Persia today, but I'm trying to get through AC right now so PoP is going to have to wait. Thinking about firing up BG&E later on. :hyper
On a related note, I just realized that 7 out of 10 Xbox 360 games currently in my possession are Ubi games. :o
-
Got Demon Souls, woohoo. Don't really have time to invest in it right now though. Maybe after I beat Fallout 2 I'll focus on that next.
-
The laser achievement is fucking distinguished mentally-challenged, I'm gonna have to cheat for it.
-

Demon's Soul will make time disappear. You will be amazed by how little you actually accomplish with how much you play, but you will probably still enjoy yourself and still want to play. I rage quit the game at least 3 or 4 times now and finally managed to stick with it by using Jak 3 as a distraction.
One funny (sad) thing was that I originally planned to take a break from playing after I fought Dorian (an enemy from the first level you can't fight until later because of a locked door). The way it works is that you need a key from one character named Ost-something, who you are supposed to save 3 times in the first world to get the key (or just kill him to get the key). I saved him once from a bunch of enemies in 1-1, then I go around looking for him in 1-2, 1-3 and 1-4. It turns out that he died off screen and I lost access to this key for the game I was playing. It wasn't a glitch either since this happens to a lot of people who play the game. It isn't like Dead Rising where you'll just get it next time since I played for maybe 18+ hours and haven't even stepped into the the 3rd gate yet (I think there are 5 or 6).
So yeah, it's a tough game.
-
once i got it all working, age of booty is a lot of fun, but kind of frustrating solo because you can't give any cues to the AI. the enemy ai will often act in concert while my friendly ai is spread to the four winds like some kind of special olympics piracy team
-

Well thats certainly ironic
-
LOL, there's no Soul Calibur IV Bad Loser Wall Of Shame, is there? I just beat a guy ranked higher than me (around 79, I think?) doing nothing but low kicks using Lizardman. He had a mic on and kept cursing up a storm, then rage quit on me in the third round.
The best part was that he had an MLG gamer icon. :lol
-
Not liking Three Cards to Midnight that much. It's like Layton if every puzzle in Layton was the same puzzle with different objects/layouts.
Also it's a match object game and it runs in like 640x480 window resolution so it's hard to tell what a lot of smaller objects are. And the cutscene graphics are so PS1-CG bad they run in like 180x90 resolution in a little tiny window.
Story is decent. Seems heading in a predictable direction, but who knows. I'm not that far.
Oh and there is some serious filler design BULLSHIT. After you beat a chapter it shows you how well you did on each of the 3 mini-chapters that make up the chapter. It rates you on 1-4 stars depending on how many misses, hints, and restarts you had. So it'll say: 2 stars on section A, 4 stars on section B, 3 stars on section C. Having X amount of stars is needed for the true ending it tells you. BUT even though you can replay each section on its own, replaying a section won't up the star rating. You have to replay THE ENTIRE CHAPTER with all 3 sections to increase your star rating for each section. Laaaaaame. I'm not doing that shit. So I will beat the game and if I don't get the good ending they can go fuck themselves and I'm definitely not buying their next game. Right now I'm probably not, especially not for $20, but again it's early in the story and maybe if the story is great I'll be more persuaded.
-
And, apparently BG&E doesn't work on Xbox 360. :gloomy
So I've been playing Prince of Persia instead, and I had to shut it off. It's very pretty, but that just makes listening to Prince Nathan Drake of Persia all the more excruciating.
-
The Uncharted Prince really is a love/hate divide between people.
I absolutely loved his voice acting and the writing between the two and it kept the game enjoyable since the gameplay itself was zzzzz. Sure he didn't sound like an authentic Persian prince, but he sounded like a likeable confident hero who woos the women and saves the day while being quirpy just like Nathan Drake (who I thought was awesome and carried Uncharted as well). I'm so sick of emo leads, anti-heros, amnesiacs, gar space marines, etc...that having a nice charming and funny guy as a lead is a breath of fresh air in these games imo.
-
He sounds like a fucking dork, and the writing is absolutely fucking atrocious. When he suggested to the dude that he should have gotten the girl a pony instead of the apocalypse, that's when I realized that the game needed to go.
-
:(
I think he's cool :maf

Get it on Steam.
I would, but I can't imagine playing this with kb+m. :gloomy
-
yeah, the I bought the Steam version and it doesn't support gamepads. I need to download the pinnacle game profiler thing eventually to play it with my 360 pad.
I already have it on the Xbox, but it's not BC and I'm not willing to buy it on Gamecube or PS2 because those versions weren't too hot IIRC
-
God damn, this GTA Chinatown Wars is fucking spectacular. I don't even like GTA normally.
Yes, game is incredible
-
God damn, this GTA Chinatown Wars is fucking spectacular. I don't even like GTA normally.
I got to get this game. The word of mouth has been spectacular.
-
God damn, this GTA Chinatown Wars is fucking spectacular. I don't even like GTA normally.
I was literally coming into this thread to proclaim my love for Chinatown Wars. So fucking great - I barely like GTA, let alone thought a portable GTA could be so great.
-
I have to play that game...got it on launch and have only played the first mission.
-
Beat 3 Cards to Midnight. Posted a writeup at GAF for the 3 people who actually remember Tex Murphy and would click on the thread: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=15812358&postcount=20
In short, don't buy. Even if you liked Tex Murphy adventure games, this is not a Psychonauts style the-adv-creator-coming-back-with-his-love-of-advs-still-intact. This is some-dudes-who-made-advs-are-now-looking-for-money-in-casual-gaming-from-non-gamers.
Might start Plants v. Zombies tonight and see how it goes for a someone who gets bored of tower defense games real quick. I'm progressing in Fallout 2 but it's going slow because the towns are so BIG and full of QUESTS. Takes me a good day of playing to clear each town and move on.
-
I had a whole bunch of 360 games lined up, but disaster struck so I guess I'll be playing the Infamous demo until I can afford another 360. Infamous is great and all, but still. :gloomy Maybe I'll replay Sly. :hyper
-
After recently finishing Jak 3 and talking about Jak 2, I almost want to revisit it. I'll probably re-play Soul Reaver 2 instead. Then Devil Summoner 2.
-
Woah woah, where are the pictures? I don't want to read this shit.

Demi, are you on a quest to prove that PC gaming sucks?
-
I dont need to go on a quest to do that
-
DoWII, DOD:S with FatalT :-* and most recently some Crysis multi.
-
Just beat the game, want to go back through the stages and collect 100% of the items. And maybe design one or two of my own stages. I really liked it, apart from the floaty physics.
-
Trying to. This game is -really- bad.
-
There's too much emphasis on sneaking. I keep getting told "I can do what I want" but the game never explicitly says that. It's always "sneak sneak, dont trigger the alarm, lets not go out shooting people"
-
Deus Ex has aged pretty badly as many of its ideas were pretty rough even back in 2000. It was a great game for its time, but that time has passed. I think System Shock 2 holds up MUCH better as most of its ideas still work even today (despite the rough visuals).
-
I'm at this part where I have to transmit a signal but there's nothing in the secret hatch that helps me progress.
-
I've owned Deus Ex on steam for 2 years now and I cannot get into it.
-
STREET FIGHTER 4

I've owned Deus Ex on steam for 2 years now and I cannot get into it.
At this point I am unsure how this became a "classic". And Nintendo fans get blamed for nostalgia...
-
I've owned Deus Ex on steam for 2 years now and I cannot get into it.
same.
it just didn't click
-
I never passed the first level of Deus Ex. I'll give it another try one day and stick with it past the aged mechanics and visuals.
-
Deus Ex had an incredible atmosphere and a surprisingly good plot, but it was the skill and augmentation system that really defined it. Of course, if I was to play it again now, I'd activate an augmentation cheat.
I was sort of hoping that Alpha Protocol would pick up the torch while bringing other aspects into modern times, but it seems as if Obsidian decided to also borrow character animation and other less than awesome things from Deus Ex.

Going through the backlog now... I think after this I'll do Lost Planet or Prince of Persia. I'm on disc 3 of Lost Odyssey. Is it worth finishing?
-
reinstalled f03 for BS only to find out about the horrific patch issues on PC (insert demi
retread comment) so instead i'm going to just shoot as many people in the face that i can find

Is AC6 good? Are the achievements hard?
-
Playing some F3: Broken Steel on mah PC.
-
Fight Night round 4 demo
omg so good
-
Is AC6 good? Are the achievements hard?
It's basically "every other AC in HD." So yes, it's entertaining, and it looks pretty good. I'm not sure about the achievements... Worth picking up though, IMO.
-
I don't know if I want to 100% excitebots. I would need approximately 4 million stars to get all the alt costumes. Or I could grind 300something s ranks in single player. ;/ There's also like 50 unlockable profile icons but no mii support. Weird.
-
I played 5 hours straight of Universe at War with 2 friends. We all got it on the $5 Steam sale and it was awesome. So much fun learning how to play the game as we went. Game seems pretty unbalanced but whatever. For $5 it rocked.
Plus we were the only 3 people in the ENTIRE WORLD playing the game online. How cool is that!? :P

Altogether nailed it. DX, even when it came out, was praised only for plot, atmosphere and the feeling of being a game with REAL choice & consequences, sometimes even better than some "real" AD&D RPGs.
It was lambasted for its graphics (stuttered on 90% on PCs) and FPS mechanics (shitty aiming is shitty, so is AI and stealth).
yeah the stuttering on my TNT2 was fucked.
i didnt think the story was that great, but augments and upgrades, inventory and choices on your way of accomplishing your goals were fantastic.
the fps part was shitty until you upgraded your gear, which made side but also sucked
-
Raiden Fighters! I played it for a bit and only clocked 2 hours. Need 96 for the time achievement. Grind grind grind...
-
GRINDAN ADVENTURE
i prefer final faggotry
-
Well I was playing the new Fable II DLC but I finished it already. Aside from the new Colosseum anyway. As a bonus I was inexplicably NOT charged for it so I have 800 points left on my account after unlocking Puzzle Arcade for the fiancee. :lol
-
omg, I just bought Civ complete from Steam. I'll be playing some Beyond the Sword and Colonization on my road trip :rock
-
i sucked it up and bought broken steel, so i'll be playing fo3 for the foreseeable future

1.5 crash on exit stuff
-
StarTropics 2: Zoda's Revenge, I'm quite far in it, just beat the Italy chapter.
-
how are you liking it?
A lot of people hate on Zoda's Revenge, but I still liked it quite a bit.
-
Death Smiles Mega Black Label and Raiden IV cause I'm in the shmup mood.
Death Smiles is so fucking good. Nothing can compare to Cave shmups.
-
Yeah, fuck, Death Smiles is GREAT! I finally sat down and played through a session of the Mega Black Label last night. What happened to the full voices, though? I thought I downloaded a pack that did this.
-

Full voice is only for non-MBL. 520megs or whatever wasn't big enough to contain a few lines in mp3 :\ Shame. I think the voice acting in the endings is really good.
I dunno how much I'll play MBL now that I've got both endings for Sakura, played all the stages on lvl.999 and played through the new EX-map. Since the lvl.999 stages and the EXmap-B are insane and not really fun to play unless you are in the top% of shmup gamers, when I play I'll just do normal rank 1-3 and skip both EX maps, so ummm...I don't really need MBL anymore. The only downside of sticking to original X360 mode or 1.1 is you don't get Sakura which is a shame because I think she's the best character or at least the strongest.
-
how are you liking it?
A lot of people hate on Zoda's Revenge, but I still liked it quite a bit.
I don't like it nearly as much as the first one, honestly. Terrible music, and I don't think the whole grid-based-but-not movement works well at all. The time travel theme is cool but the game doesn't do anything interesting with it.
-
ugh
between the patch and the dlc, fo3 is now a buggy fucked mess
lots of crashes to the desktop
-
I tried playing Syphon Filter 1 on my PS3 and I'm amazed by how hard it is to control.

I seem to be in the minority that doesn't really dislike the game too much then :'( But yeah, it can't compare with Startropics.
-
Mirrors Edge is pretty hot, but I don't think my PS3 is going to last through the whole game. :gloomy
-
i just tried playing some universe at war, but it's a bit complex to start up at 11 pm
maybe tomorrow
-
Geometry Wars
Internet Checkers

I'm having fun with Gradius Rebirth. It's my first gradius (well I played gradius 3 for about 15 minutes) so I don't know if its supposed to be terrible by series' standards. The slowdown is inexcusable but I'll live with it. Maxing out weapons is rewarding. Something I noticed, level segments sometimes are different on my playthroughs (background, enemies). Is this related to difficulty level or the weapon set I chose?
-
I have one remaining level to beat on inferno for EDF 2017. With 99.6% completion, I only have 500 of the achievement points.
I'm also halfway through FO3's story and main missions. So much content.
-
-Maxed out my Fol in SO4, gonna do a bit more grinding and then try taking down the Ethereal Queen (possibly tomorrow).
-Played lots of StarTropics 2: Zoda's Revenge, now on chapter 8 of 9.
-Got back into Wario Land: Shake It!! Collecting treasures that I missed before... Gonna try and finish it this time.
-Up to the final dungeon in DQ5 DS. Gonna grind some more and beat it this week during my lunch breaks.
-
All the TF2 talk convinced me to dust it off, and I probably spent 10 hours playing it since Thursday.

Yeah I didn't install BS nor the newest patch yet. Don't want to fuck up my game - will wait for the patch that fixes BS.
smh @ PC gaming
i have had two awesome BSoD errors.
whole thing is fucked. i'm going to just wait for the new patch.
i'm downloading the gog.com versions of 1 and 2 now

Played around three or so hours of Oboro Muramasa tonight. I think I'm almost done with the game now. It's been ridiculously easy and the backtracking all the way through one area just to get to another (sometimes with no enemy encounters, so you're just holding right/left for a few minutes...ZZZzzzzz) is getting worse, but it's also been enjoyable enough. After I clear the game, there's still Momohime's quest to do, but AFAIK hers is the same, just starting in the opposite direction. :-\ I think you have to clear it with both characters and do some other stuff to finally get the real final boss fight/ending.
Real gamers paid attention and grabbed FO3 on its intended console.

I've been playing Raiden Fighters Jet on MAME since I can't find a copy of RFA anywhere. :'( I am just focusing on getting the highest score possible on 1 credit. My best score so far is ~16 million. It took me awhile to get the scoring system, but I like it.

New Reno is biiiiig. Finished up the mining towns of Redding/Broken Hills though. Working on New Reno & NCR in Fallout 2.

Are you playing it the action way or the rpg way? I had assumed the action way would be pretty balls to the wall hard like NG and the rpg way would be piss easy.

The musou way, which I thought was the action mode, but it's the RPG mode. You can switch between the two styles at almost any time, by the way; I didn't notice much of a difference. Maybe I need to try it again, or maybe I'll just wait until I finish Kisuke's game and do Shura for Momohime.
I think I might have died once in the beginning when messing around and another when doing an optional "dungeon" (you warp to an area and take on a bunch of enemies; the game gives you a level recommendation before you enter and I went in early to try it)...it's been a cakewalk otherwise. You get a ridiculous amount of healing items to use (bought from merchants) too, plus you find food items you can use to make your own healing items with.
IIRC after you beat the game with one character, the other character can access these white barriers that you cannot enter the first time through. (EDIT: No, you have to beat it with BOTH characters apparently. :-\) This is where the harder trials are. There's also some additional modes that are supposed to be harder, including where you have 1 HP, but I've seen people saying that other than a trial or two, it's still too easy. I'm only at level 26 right now, but I have some swords that do 100+ damage, and it's just incredibly easy to slaughter any enemy encountered. This not Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry, no way, no how. Maybe I need to see about playing on a higher difficulty level (I don't remember there being an option though), but when I check around, no one else is saying it's particularly difficult either.
This GameFAQs post sums it up nicely. Since I'm still enjoying the game despite its shortcomings, I'd give it higher than a five. Maybe a seven, but I do tend to be overly-generous with my own ratings I think.
On a scale from 1-10, with 7 being average, I would probably rate this game as below average, maybe a 5.
The level design is terrible, you jut hold left or right until you encounter a bunch of enemies and then you kill them all and move on. Sometimes you have to jump up ledges to reach the exit, but there is no real platforming.
You have to press "up" to jump. I don't understand why they made this decision. There are plenty of unused buttons (especially in the classic controller control scheme). Pressing up to jump is fine for fighters, but is awkward for sidescrolling action games.
The combat is too chaotic, at least on shura mode (skipped musou mode completely). Basically, when you encounter a group of enemies you are locked in to a screen and you just have this long string of identical enemies to take out. They usually sort of just stand there and you walk up and jam on the b button until they are all dead.
The combo system is completely unsatisfying, you can basically keep hitting an enemy at any time, anywhere. And the fall from the air VERY slowly, which makes it easy to jump up and keep hitting them. There is no room for creativity because there are no limitations to the combat system. You have a ton of defensive moves, but nothing is balanced. Why should I block when I can dodge, since dodging won't cause my sword to break? It's like they threw in a bunch of combat moves without even thinking.
When you die you start right from the screen you died at, even on the more difficult mode. There is no penalty for not playing well, which is another sign the game was not balanced.
I can't rate the story. I can read Japanese quite fluently, but I just don't care. The game itself is dull, so I find it hard to get interesting in the text boxes that show up between boring fights.
The graphics are great, and I suspect that many people interested in this game will be happy with that.
Seriously, if not for this game's visuals and atmosphere, nobody would give a shit.

Okay, I switched it to Shura and it is "harder," but it seems that's only because you can take a shitload more damage from enemy hits. It was still too easy though, since you can just dodge everything and zip around the screen avoiding everything, and then I leveled up to 28 after the encounter, which gave me more life and refilled everything. :lol Other than that it seems no different to me. But at least it does make things more challenging...sorta. I mean, you still start on the same screen you died on when you lose. ::) So if Musou is "very easy," then Shura is "easy with some cheap damage hits." :P
EDITS:
-LOL, I just cleared an encounter without getting hit once. I think I'll just switch back to Musou and do the Shura thing with Momohime. Gives me something to look forward to I guess. Kinda.
-Since I made this post, I hit level 30. That's how fast you go up. Total play time is just over five hours.
-WOW, HOLY SHIT! A boss that's actually challenging! Why couldn't the rest of the game have been like this? :'(
-I think the boss fights will all be a hell of a lot better on Shura mode. Maybe there's hope!

After losing repeatedly at the end of stages and having to repeat 30 FUCKING MINUTES OF GAMEPLAY BECAUSE THERE ARE NO CHECKPOINTS, I'm done with Ace Combat 6. I've experienced it, it was Ace Combat in HD, and I'm moving on...
back to Persona 4, which is still amazing. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it some time this year. I'm 55 hours in, and lately I just can't find the time to sit down and seriously play it. I plan on finally picking up Valkyria Chronicles once I finish up P4, and going back to Odin Sphere to get ready for Muramasa or whatever it's called.

I need to pick up Persona 3 as well. And Devil Summoner.

This is how the two main characters meet in Oboro Muramasa. :lol

Got another 360 today, so I've been playing Mirror's Edge. It's far from perfect, but the aliasing is much less pronounced in this version than it is in the PS3 version. The game is incredibly awesome.

Drudging through Persona PSP a bit (game is too old and dated for its own good), and I think I'm going to buy Downfall and play through that. Horror adventure gaming sounds good right about now.
