They are both going for $40 at Best Buy. I'm thinking of getting 1 of them since I have $10 in rewards.
This is a dilemma because SF4 is coming out for the PC pretty soon. I will eventually pick up the PC version but I kinda want to play it now.
Since I only have a PC/PS3 compatible joystick, I'd have to pick up the inferior PS3 version if I were getting SF4.
Should I get the PS3 version now or just wait?
Is Resistance 2 worth $30?
-
I bought both; haven't played either.
:lol
that's my input
-
Resistance 2 is a rental at best.
-
I played SF4 on both 360 and PS3 and it's really hard to notice any significant difference between the two apart from a bit of aliasing, I wouldn't call SF4 inferior on PS3 by any stretch
Street Fighter 4 has so much shit to unlock all over the place that I just said fuck it, I sold my PS3 version to someone else in anticipation of the PC version... I don't want to unlock so much shit twice
-
For the love of God, do not buy Resistance 2. That game is shit.

How does it play with your Virtua Stick High Grade? Are they still making that stick? I tried finding it for a long time.

Why is it that bad?
-
What I played of it wasn't bad, but it was incredibly derivative. It's as if they designed the game specifically for critics, and ditched what was actually good about Resistance in the process. Not sure if I'd pay $30 for it, but I'm told there are some genuinely cool sections later in the game.
-
how is this even a question? and i actually kind of like resistance 2
-
Neither, you won't touch them anyway

I probably wouldn't finish either game alone but I do play fighters when friends come around. We mostly play Soul Calibur 4. VF5 is too technical for them.
SF4 would be a cool addition since most of them still remember how to play SF2.
-
Didn't I just mention that I already play SC4 quite often?

It controls very well. But, the stick hasn't been produced in like two years, so good luck with ever finding one.
But I prefer to use Saturn USB pads. Some are compatible with the PS3. I also use them for emulators on the PC, and to play fighting and arcade games with friends. They can be found for pretty cheap on Ebay (20-30$ for one) (http://shop.ebay.com/items/_W0QQ_nkwZsaturnQ20usbQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZR40QQ_mdoZ), but they used to be far cheaper. I got a pair for 15$, and even that was already price gauged. Damn Hong Kong Ebay scalpers, lol.
I love these pads so much that without them my gaming life wouldn't be the same. They'll come in very handy when Marvel vs Capcom 2 hits up.

Do you really have to ask? Get Street Fighter IV; Resistance 2 was "meh."
The 360 version of SF4 is technically better, but the difference is really minor overall and it's still a fantastic port. You can't go wrong with whichever platform you get it on.
The upcoming PC version will likely not be as populated online and play as smoothly due to people having different types of set-ups. I plan to get it if I have a good enough PC by then, but no way is that going to be the "lead" platform for the game that people go by.
If you want to wait for the PC SF4, I suggest neither!

FYI: SF4 PC comes bundled with a gamepad.
http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/09/street-fighter-iv-pc-comes-packin-a-fightpad/
($60 for game + gamepad)
In other words, it comes with the Mad Catz 360 fight pad. That's pretty good since the fight pad alone is $40. I'll pick this up regardless now. :lol
-
Resistance 2 is shit, Street Fighter 4 is not.
-
So basically, the game is only $20 when you buy the bundle. I might get this then sell the controller.
If you don't have a controller already, that wouldn't be a good idea. You need a six-button layout pad or joystick for this game.
-
Thanks for the advice, everybody.
I guess I"ll be a little more patient and wait for the PC version of SF4. It's probably a good idea since I just spent aproximately $170 last week on a mouse + mousepad.

SF4 is coming to the PC? Wow Capcom is really looking out for me. Why buy a console, all I need is a 360 controller

Where's the crazy-ass 16x AA on these shots? What's going on, this is not going to be another botched port with fake console AA, is it?

For Street Fighter IV? :lol
There's a reason why they're gonna have a bundle.
Which are worthless BTW.
Why spend 4 years making a unique art-style and thet throw it out of the window with the ability to change it via 4 different styles/ shaders?
I'd like higher res textures or EARLIER release date more, Capcom, but I can still acknowledge the effort.
Those filters to me look like nothing more than being able to control the "ink and paint" effect you get when doing focus attacks and use it for the whole game.

AA shouldn't be a problem. So far, all Capcom ports to the PC have allowed 16X AA in the game. If you have a Nvidia card, Nhancer can also be used to get even higher than 16X AA.

I agree with what Lyte said. You're gonna want to get the fighting pad from Madcatz if you want to play SF4.
I've tried playing SF4 with the regular pad and it wasn't great. Surprisingly, I could pull off a lot of moves with the analog stick but it's really hard to become consistent.
-
Yea but won't I need one for multiplayer? It'll be like the old days when whoever won a match earned the right to use the good controller :lol
-
iirc the boxed $60 PC version is bundled with the 360 mad catz controller
regular online version is $40, so it's the controller for $20 extra. Pretty good considering the controller is normally $40.
-
If you're interested in getting this for local multiplayer, why the fuck would you get it on PC over the consoles?
