It's 11pm but the Aliens thread has gotten me feeling like watching a blu-ray because I hardly ever watch them anymore. I think I'm gonna make up some butter popcorn and enjoy unless I fall asleep during it. Out of these blu-rays that I haven't watched (meaning never seen the actual film), what should I watch tonight?
-Kingdom of Heaven Directors Cut (I did see the original cut)
-The Godfather
-Rambo II
-Casablanca
-Patton
-
The motherfucking Godfather, followed by some Rambo II straight to your balls.
-
I'd say either Rambo 2 or sleep because the rest of those movies either have a lot of depth to them, are about 3 hours long, or both.
For Godfather, it's a pretty shallow story so you could probably follow everything along half-asleep. I didn't like the writing at all though but everything else had very high quality.
For the other three, Casablanca is the most important out of all those movies. Patton was a good movie too, but they did censor how much he swore. I never saw KOH but everybody says that the director's cut was a lot better.

Rambo 2 is awful.
I would watch one half of KoH, the watch the rest tomorrow night.
-
Ended up watching Casablanca because it was an hour shorter than Godfather which made it 33% more likely I would not fall asleep during it.
Definitely a good movie. Humphrey Bogart is sexy and badass, the setting is cool and the story is good. Really liked the ending. Only complaint is for all the sexy cool guys the main girl was totally unattractive by modern standards.
Between this and Indiana Jones, I want one of those Red tall hats with the tassel. :hyper

Yeah I hear Rambo 2 sucks, but I bought the trilogy because I love Rambo 1 and I gotta watch 2/3 someday. Rambo one is like Metal Gear Solid before there was MGS!

Godfather. It's on a whole different level than the rest of that crap you listed sans Casablanca.
in b4 am nintendo embarrassing himself with his laughable criticisms of The Godfather
-
Patton.
:bow George C. Scott :bow2
-
First Blood Part II was written by James Cameron.
-
Rambo II is a masterpiece.
-
What the hell is wrong with you guys saying Rambo II sucks. It's a classic action film and just as Diunx said a masterpiece. You're not a true American unless you love Rambo or piss red, white, and blue and shit the star spangled banner.

A. Borys thinks Patton was crap, therefore he loses all credibility.
B. Godfather had a pretty trashy and exploitative story, which very closely followed the book that (surprise!) critics said was too stereotypical and shallow. The actors and directors did a lot with what they had to work with which is why the movie is very fun to watch, but movie reviewers are uptight snobs and refuse to say that a movie they like had average writing, acting, etc. Believe it or not, movies are a combination of a lot of different skills.

I really don't see what anybody would get from the story. It had pretty stereotypical characters that you might forgive because of the great cinematography. It's a very influential movie since it showed that movies can have artistic merits, and that's probably the reason that it's so influential on movies today and why it's quoted a lot. It's a very linear and stereotypical story and the writer got lucky that everything else was such high quality.

The Director's Cut is way better than the theatrical version, it's practically night and day. A lot of scenes that felt rushed or pointless now suddenly make perfect sense and give a much better understanding of the characters and their actions. In particular, it gives a much better picture of Balian's early life in the first few scenes of the movie.

There were a lot of films that showed that movies could have artistic merit that were around way before The Godfather. Check out some Orson Welles or Ingmar Bergman films, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
late to the party - but this is amusing
-
Green Shinobi should use his real name
-
also, Ingrid Bergman is totally unattractive by modern standards wtf :wtf

Speaking of Bergmans, I just watched Hour of the Wolf. and it just hit me that it's 3:30 am here so I watched hour of the wolf DURING the hour of the wolf lol
