Title: Veidt says " What about this new Kojima Productions tease?"
Post by: Veidt on May 18, 2009, 09:48:15 AM: I like MGS carnivals of stupid, as much as anyone else. But a few questions:

1. How or why would there be a 360 port of MGS4? [ I have both systems, btw, so NO, I'm not a fanboy]

MGS4 sold well enough and as much as I want Kojipro to get monies, I don't think they'd spend some extra money on porting. Especially with such constraints as, the ubiquitous MAC and Apple placement, plus the 30 gigabyte of useless extra data.Even if some other group heads the porting. Also, looking to sales, it appears that the amount of purchases were around the same or better, than some of the previous installments, despite the lower over userbase of the Playstation 3. So basically, everyone that wants MGS4, virtually already bought it.

2. New IP- Makes more sense. Kojima is tired of MGS re-iterations. Plus, no studio wants to be known for just ONE IP. It's bad for business. Multiplat or exclusive to one console.

3. DLC makes sense, as there's a whole uncharted territory of what happened to Raiden between Sons of Liberty and Guns of the Patriots. Also, if anyone's played, you kinda notice that there's no levels where you'd expect them. An example would be when Big Momma gets shot and they both head to the sewers.

4. Or, everything could go the clusterfuck way, and I'm wrong in every instance.

I think he means, so much teasing for a port. Microsoft would go to great lengths but this is a Konami tease. It's weird that they would make a big deal about a port.

The teaser doesn't really give me a vibe that it's just a 360 port. The iPhone game teaser is much more what I'd think of when it comes to something like that. This looks like something different.

Of course I could be wrong. If it's a rerelease I'll buy it. If it's a port I'll yawn and play MGS4 again.

Yeah, this is what I'm banking on. A new Big Boss game and MGS4: The Game It Should Have Been In The First Place edition. Metal Gear Solid 1 was great. So was the Gameboy Color Ghost Babel. MGS3 (I played the Subsistence version) was pretty good too. And I even kinda-sorta like Portable Ops, but that's about it. This series is the very definition of over-done and over-rated; the story is nonsensical and gets worse with every game, and "Raiden" is such a lame fucking character. I'm still unable to play MGS2 no matter how many times I try to play anything past the Tanker chapter.

Please make something new, Kojima. PLEASE.

This guy is the sole reason why MGS1 was the best MGS. He did all the translation work for one. Kojima fired him, because he thought the guy was doing his own things with the game. Kinda gets me pissed.

The plot was wacky, but wasn't full of itself and b.) the gameplay, while shitty in retrospect, was pretty good and different for the time which makes it forgivable since it was the first game in the series.

The Lightning Bolt Action subtitle makes me think it's a different kind of game and a brand new start to the series.
